Pro factors :
Some bad news about MBS in straits times today which is good news for GentingSP. ZaoBao publish price target by OCBC for 2.38 on Saturday. China PMI up, which is pro factor for asian markets. General SP sentiment still positive.
Con factors :
Possible terrorist threat in Europe. Futures down at the moment. STI at 2 year high and curently RSI at about 70%, close to overbought region.
Good luck guys.

hey AK welcome back, I not sifu but I learn from my past mistakes and learn how to trade properly. I try to share a lot of my trading experience in this forum, sometimes in real time, I also post all the news here, so we can all learn from each other and help each other make more money yeah? But I refrain from saying today should buy or sell because no one can predict the future for sure, we can only cut down our risks as much as possible. Have a good holiday |

Singapore shares may open higher on Monday after Wall Street extended its rally, led by gains in resource stocks following data in China that showed a pick-up in manufacturing activity. Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index <.FTSTI> rose 1.07% on Friday to close at 3,130.90 points.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 0.39% at 10,829.68. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index <.SPX> gained 0.44% at 1,146.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> finished 0.09% higher to close at 2,370.75. Here are some stocks and factors to watch:
CapitaLand (CATL.SI), Southeast Asia’s largest developer, may be in focus after it said its unit Ascott Residence Trust (ASRT.SI) had paid $458.2 million for the acquisition of 28 serviced residence properties in Singapore, Vietnam and Europe.
Shipping trust Rickmers Maritime (RIMT.SI) said on Friday its chief financial officer Quah Ban Huat has submitted his resignation to pursue other interests, but will remain in his position until April 30 next year.
Singapore Exchange (SGXL.SI), Asia’s second largest bourse operator by market cap, said on Monday that the Straits Times Index will be delivered on a new streaming technology that will allow users to make quicker trading decisions. |

Good point. "Managing Risk" is really an important element in stock trading market. How you can reap profit while maintaining the position is an art rather than science. Risk can come into many forms. Risk of losing the uptrend when you have sold your holding earlier.. Risk of dropping more when you buy at higher price..etc etc... It is emotional rather than technicality. Star-Trader

Hey there wishbone, thanks for your applause lol. That is right, for retail investors we should think defensive trading and risk management. Last friday was exciting because we been waiting so long for this reversal and I think a lot of people out there including the BBs as well, you should see the number of 8 million, 6 million, 5 million, and 3 million buy ups and sell downs all in one single day. More action than hollywood movie lol...

Singapore stock market continued to rally this week. Straits Times Index (STI) had its sixth consecutive weekly rise.
This week was similar to last week as STI only continued to move up at a moderate pace while pennies continued to dominate the top volume list. This was despite that STI broke this year high again, but there was no accelerated rally. Nevertheless STI ended Q3 at 3098 compared to 2836 for Q2 end, hence was up 9.2% for the quarter, which is a decent quarterly gain.
Going into the month of October, Singapore market will be tested for the liquidity needs of three government related giant IPOs. They are Mapletree Industrial Trust (S$1.1b) and Global Logistcs Properties (US$2.4b) which had already released their prospectus and Sabana Reit (S$500mil) that is expected to release prospectus shortly this month. A total of close to $5b may be raise for the month of October. Funds subscribing for these giant IPOs may need to sell other shares to raise cash, hence there may be some selling pressure for the next two weeks.
Furthermore as usual, caution may rule the mind of investors as market cross over to the month of October. Hence it may be prudent to raise some cash for the month of October. It is usually easier to take profit when market is making new high. When market is retreating, a queue order to sell is harder to be done.
In short, it may be prudent to raise cash as we enter into the traditionally jinx month of October.
