A risky situation and a highly risky stock to get into now. Not much room to go up..

Current price is being supported by Major share holders... Better to consider ETF or SGX..

Tiger Air: clarifies recent media reports that Thailand’s Transport ministry did not approve the Thai Tiger Air JV. Says prospective partner Thai Air has told it that the state approvals for a low-cost alliance remain pending, and neither co has been informed of any decision made regarding the approvals.

Nevertheless, the chances of the JV going through may be slim. The commencement date of the JV has been delayed repeatedly, with the last guidance being for May 2011, and there have been no further updates since the date passed. Moreover, the change in Thailand’s political party post elections, introduces the possibility of a change in top mgt at Thai Air (majority owned by the govt), and if that happens, Thai Air may cast aside the JV plans to focus on its own internal operations.

Rejection of the JV plan would come as a further blow to Tiger, as the budget carrier grapples with its Australian flight ban amid safety concerns.
Stock is down 15% month to date at $1.01. Share price is hovering around the $1 support level, and a close below that could signal further downside ahead. Technical indicators are weak and oversold, but show no signs of hooking up yet.

Airlines: competing budget carrier Jetstar Airways, the low-cost airline unit of Qantas, said today it will invest US$500m in its Spore operations and add 7 additional Airbus aircraft to its hub there by the end of the year.

The new aircraft comprise 5 Airbus A320s and 2 Airbus A330s. The carrier said it will also add 40 extra weekly flights by the end of the year, including new flights to Ningbo, Beijing and Hanoi. Extra flights to Taipei, HK, KL, Ho Chi Minh City, and Jakarta will also be added.
By the end of this year, Jetstar is expected to operate > 3k flights per week to more than 60 destinations, across 17 countries with a fleet of 86 aircraft.

This spells more competition for local budget carrier Tiger Air, whose Australian operations were grounded this month. Tiger’s remaining operations are in Spore, though it is currently eyeing expansion into Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. Tiger currently has a fleet of 26 aircraft (16 in Spore, 10 in Australia), with plans to expand to 35 by FYMar12.

Tiger +0.5% at $1.015, still hovering above the $1 psychological support level. Volume has been normalizing since the huge volume spike / gap down at the start of July, suggesting the selling pressure may be easing.

Tiger Aims to Resume Services in Australia by August 1

Tiger Airways Holdings Limited Friday announced that it aims to resolve the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s concerns and resume services in Australia by August 1 or earlier.

Tiger Airways reassured the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in a dialogue that it has put in place measures to satisfactorily manage any passenger disruption beyond July 31.

The airline said it will provide full and automatic refunds to passengers whose travel is booked between July 2 and July 31 inclusively.

It will also process all customer refunds within 20 business days, from July 8, to the original currency of payment, and waive any associated call centre charges for flights cancelled in the month of July.

As part of the ongoing consultation with the ACCC, Tiger added it will advise the ACCC in advance of its intention to resume ticket sales.

Tiger Airways Holdings Limited closed on Friday at S$1.005.

Tiger Airways (TGR SP S$1.00 TRADING SELL TP S$0.71)
What happened. Based on Bloomberg reports, the Thai-Tiger JV has been rejected by the Transport Ministry of Thailand, according to Thai Transport Ministry's perm-sec Supoj Saplorm. A key reason cited was due to lack of details in the Thai-Tiger proposal.
    What we think:
Previously, the Thai-Tiger JV was impeded by political wrangling between the Transport Minister from the Bhum Jai Thai party and Prime Minister Abhisit from the Democrats. In our regional note, we saw some shreds of hope for Thai-Tiger following the watershed elections in Thailand, but also noted headwinds ahead for the venture. Tiger Australia's woes could be the main reason for the rejection. That said, we have yet to include JV assumptions in our estimates.
    What you should do:
We believe the market should be rather neutral over this development, though we could see some knee-jerk selling in early-day trade. Tiger's future over the coming months remains enveloped in uncertainties, and we maintain our Trading Sell call. In spite of that, we could see some positives emerging from its latest woes, from a potentially stronger airline following a shake-up in management. We would stay away from Tiger for now, and revisit the stock in Oct-Nov.

TigerAir also don't know where it wants to go.

But, I still think it must fall below $1.00.

Anyway, my stop-loss for short is at $1.045, as long as it's not trigger, I'll hold.

TigerAir has briefly broken the $1.00 mark just now.

If TigerAir Close Below $1.00 today, can expect more down slide coming.

Once broken, the floor is the limit.

    Major investors jump plane.

Branding is damaged - Told to fix safety issue since March....but no action.  Get Kangaroo a chance to poke them.

    Profitable?? Good profit ??

Poor customer service......while on budget, one should not compare with traditional airline.  Have not heard any good from my friends.....really......zero friend say it is good.....zero.  For me, never got a chance to take one.

So.....what so fantastic about this stock ??  Did I miss anything ??
