Re: singpost -

I nearly fainted when i came to know some secondary school students posted letters without pasting STAMP!!  The reason being told was  they had never posted a single letter before cos they only communicated thru SMS, MSN, Email and webcam.  Am wondering if they mistook 'prepaid' envelope as ordinary envelope that can be posted without using stamp?

They had never bought stamp in their entire life too and dont know how much per piece is costing.  Is it still 22 cents?

p/s - Can Singpost sustain its business when communication just a click away?

Ok, Tks !! Noted.

Do you guys know why sometimes some counters will show buy queue or sell queue more than 10 bits or even at very rediculous price?  e.g. SMRT last done say 1.70 at 5pm.  but buy queue can show $1.50?  How is it possible to queue at a price of more than 20 bits? or Singtel is like sell queue $20.00?  I am unable to to so once you key more than 10 bits.

Hi niuyear,

$1.65 seems to be a good entry point. I may buy and treat it like a FD, collect dividends and cash out i need the money. I'm contemplating to buy either comfort delgro or SMRT or even SingPost. Any one has suggestions? Please feel free to comment.

Cheers,

oinkoink

tis stock is gd for long term since its pretty much safe n stable. (for less risk taker)

However tt $ could be better off on some other shares if one's is willing to take a higher risk.

does depends on each needs.

both charts are correct

if u trade , use daily chart

if u analyse LONG TERM can use weekly chart

when i see weekly chart just down, macd, stoch are both bearish  although RSI is still more than 70% ( bullish) because RSI is set at either 14 or 21 (weeks) which is very long time frame

Hi all,

Looking at SMRT using chartnexus, the daily chart shows all indicators bearish ( MACD, RSI, STOCHASTIC, price below all MA ) but it's weekly chart shows the opposite !

Which chart is more accurate ? which show I follow ? Please help.

Am waiting to buy if it goes a bit lower.  No hurry to buy since its for long term.:)

The newly erected barricade along the mrt stationtion platform -

I hate the sight of the newly erected barricade when i was happened to be a pasir ris mrt station.  What are they for? They dont serve any purpose.  If anyone wanna commit suicide, they can still do so.  Kids can still fall from the gap between the barricade and worst still, kids will play around there like 'hide and seek' or police catch thief etc........this will cause more accidents than before.  I wonder who designs this?

SMRT stock is highly resistant.  Today's STI market dropped 85 pts, yet SMRT only dropped one cent.

Refer to the following article from Channelnewsasia today: The 33.3-kilometre rail project is expected to hit a daily ridership of half a million when fully operational.   With half million ridership added, it will only mean much more revenue, much more gross and net earnings plus the revenue & profits earned from the advertising, it appears highly likely that SMRT is a growth stock, with increasing revenue and profit.  The Director purchased SMRT as strong indication of its growth.

Today's Chinese Zaopao stated that Morgan Stanley, if I translate correctly, put the target price of SMRT to S$ 2.00.

Also, factoring in government's call for public tranport.  MM Lee spoke of more foreign talents coming to Singapore 2 days ago, possibly boosting population from current 4.5 million to 6.5 million as previous target.  Also, PM Lee spoke at the rally last evening that the current network will increase double to include future Tuas West Extension, Thomson Line and Eastern Region Line by 2020.  All these are postive factors to SMRT and SMRT price may surprise many in the short to medium term, with greater population, greater network, with the immediate boost coming from Circle Line as reported progressively from 2010 onwards.  Good luck to investors and fund managers who bought SMRT shares...

SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has finally completed all tunnelling work for the Circle Line.

Engineers said working on stage four of the project was particularly challenging because of the route's geological conditions.

Director, Circle Line 4, LTA, Ow Chuan Nam, said: "This route consists of… soft ground plus hard ground. You name it, we have it. And also, it's quite a long route to bore through, three kilometres in fact.

LTA said work on the Circle Line is on schedule with about 76 per cent of the railway track already completed.

All forty trains for the Circle Line have been delivered to the Kim Chuan Depot.

Five stations - Dhoby Ghaut, Bras Basah, Esplanade, Promenade and Tai Seng - are expected to get their temporary occupancy permits by the end of 2009, with revenue services for the remaining stations expected to start progressively from 2010 onwards.

Chief executive, LTA, Yam Ah Mee, said: “We will only decide on which segment (to start operating) subsequently upon the successful completion of the lines, and when LTA together with SMRT have fully tested the lines."

The 33.3-kilometre rail project is expected to hit a daily ridership of half a million when fully operational.

SMRT said last month's daily ridership has only hit 32,000, lower that the initial projected daily ridership of 55,000.

The LTA said it will be moving Farrer Road back to its original alignment in end-2010, with an extra lane added.

Judging the recent sell down in stock market, will this reach 1.65? If so, will it be considered a good buy?

Director buying of 10,000 share is very peanut. i.e only 10 lots.  I've got gut feeling this stock will be shorted down to 1.65 as DBS vickers has recommendation as 'Neutral ' (think last week)   and TP is $1.65.

Dear all SMRT investors (retail investors and Big Boys),

a. Mr Ong Ye Kung Director SMRT just bought 10,000 shares of SMRT at S$1.72/share on 8 Aug 2009.  What does it mean?  It probably means great confidence on SMRT shares and the shares likely to surge upwards in the coming months.  If we look at SMRT shares in the recent Straits Times report on Tamasek's porforlio, SMRT's gain in value this year is only 11%, as compared to more than 50% for other Tamasek's shares.

b. With other Stages Circle Line stages progressively opening next year (2010), it will be boon to SMRT's revenue and profits should surge with the rise in ridership.

c.  SMRT's revenues (through greater retail/rentals at the new SMRT and existing stations, from observations) and greater Circle Line contibutations next year, will ensure the net profits to grow upwards and it just mean that SMRT is a growth stock, yet to reach its potential yet.
