Quite true. REC has been wanting to build a campus in Australia for a long time but without success because their courses and certs not recognised by MOE of Australia.. Now they are doing it in Malaysia and will be issuing certs that are recognised by Malaysian government. Sooner or later they will need to do this because so far they are a "virtual school" means with no campus and just issuing their own certified degrees without been recognised by any other universities. With this new campus in Malaysia, they will have a "base" and can start to issue their own certs and degrees by clamining that MOE Malaysia recogises Raffles University. Very smart rite

You are joking downright ! If China parents find out that they are paying 29K USD for a 3 year course that ties their kid's future to a technical institute used to train foreigh labours, they will freak out! ITE producing scholars??? Do you know what you are talking about? Reputation, once gone, its gone !

I do understand that in today's context, ITE is no longer an important institution of studies. That does not deny the fact that ITE does know how to conduct courses that is relevant in other country. I think Raffles does it right this time by forming a strategic partnership with ITE. You have a government back institution with more experience providing education for a country that requires international standard business skills. To think about it, parents in China will be more than happy when their kids are enrolled to a international business school at local cost. Better still if ITE and Raffles merge in all overseas ventures. They can bring our Singapore Branding out. Don’t forget Singapore have produce more scholars than any other country with such a small population.

The ITE deal makes sense since it provides a certain synergy to its local programmes. Smart students from the JCs and Polys don't go to Raffles college for a degree. Raffles degree tend to attract vocational students in the arts and designs stream. Most of these students are in the ITEs and Polys.

Desperate for growth... right on the dot

I see this partnership as going against REC's brand vision as the "region's premium education provider". ITE has never and will never be able to synergies with that kind of corporate vision. REC manangement seems confused internally what it wants to achieve out of the Raffles brand. All these recent activities is sending out a clear signal - "Desperate for ways to grow" !  Smiley
