Sorry i missed the 2 different tranches and thanks for pointing it out to me. So he sold in total 5million shares over 2 days. The key question is can an insider sell for 2 days in a row if there is something about to happen? Thought there is a blackout period? Especially after the company announce they are expecting the CE mark in late jan 2008? or is that precisely why it is okay for him to sell because what they have announced is now public knowledge??. I do agree with the other forummers...a bit unsettling when the CTO sells amidst the anticiaption of the CE mark. Do you think BIG should explain or ignore if no query by st exchange as they have already made the earlier announcement on the expectation of the ce mark...??? Today the price stabilised and ended up. hope he has stopped selling.
In fact, i think this CTO still has seveal tranches of outstanding share options with very low exercise price from 20cts to 70 cts yet to be exercised. I will check BIG's hardcopy financial reports and keep you guys posted on the CTO's outstanding share option price and quantities.
i will get worry if the price keep dropping...like a sinking ship...but for now, hope the CTO will not further let go his position... see have any fat ang bao....for us...

Somehow, TA charts don't seem to apply to this counter. The charts don't make sense to me.... running all over the place. Looks like the announcement on the sale which was first reported on the 11th of jan and the announcement today is based on the same person and the same sale transaction as the details of the quantum sold (3million) and the shares he has left are exactly the same. The only difference is the percentage change in the level. i.e on friday it was reported that it was down to 5.73 the percentage the CTO held after sale. Today it reports it is fr 5.73 to 5.54. Could it be the amendment is because of the diluted shrares? Not sure but the announcement should be clearer. |
From the announcements, the CTO disposed about 3,000 lots on 10/01/08 and another 2,000 lots on 11/01/08 via open market selling. Nothing to do with share dilution
Im not worried about insiders selling some off their shares at high price. But I will be worried when the insider continuously selling blocks of shares even when the company's share price is dropping everyday to a new low. This means that the insider knows something really bad is happening in the company and dumping their shares before they announce it.
Maybe the CTO need a huge lump sum cash and see it as an opportunity to sell some of his shares at around $1, knowing BIG's share price has always been volatile. He could be comfortable cashing out some of his holdings at around $1.
Ask yourself this question: Why do some investors sell off their shares at 84cts on 26/12/07 when BIG announced they expect CE to come in at end jan 2008? Different people have different way of looking at things and we have to respect their views. If earlier sellers at 84cts are comfortable with the 20% they make if they have bought at 70cts, why stop them or condemn their selling decision? They have their own investment strategy and criteria while the CTO has his own cash needs and views.
The CTO's shares could be given to him free for at zero cost to entice him (a very important key research personnel) to come in as a founding shareholder (or subscribed at a very cheap price). I think he is one of the founding partner of BIG and a key technical officer in BIG's stent programs. Im not in a good position to "wild guess" this guy's selling as my guess is as good as anyone's guess.
double-top, triple-top forming?? if cant break $1.00? sporegal wat do u think?
trade at your own risk.

UK agency to rule on stent cost-effectiveness soon
Fri Jan 11, 2008 9:14am EST
LONDON, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Britain's medicines advisory agency is set to publish its latest recommendations on the cost-effectiveness of drug-coated stents in around 10 days time, potentially triggering a fresh clash with manufacturers.
A spokesman for the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said on Friday an announcement was scheduled for the beginning of the week commencing Jan. 21, although companies involved would be informed of the recommendation next week.
Drug-coated versions of stents -- tiny, wire-mesh tubes used to prop open clogged arteries -- are a multibillion-dollar global business for companies like Boston Scientific (BSX.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Medtronic (MDT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Abbott Laboratories (ABT.N: Quote, Profile, Research).
But their use has fallen sharply in the past year or so on concerns they may sometimes cause blood clots.
NICE caused a storm last August when its initial assessment concluded that drug-eluting stents were not worth the money when compared with older bare-metal ones. The difference in price is around 600 pounds ($1,175).
Morgan Stanley analysts said it was possible that companies could offer price concessions to keep drug stents in use on Britain's state health service but they would have to decide whether price cuts were commercially viable.
Since 1999, NICE has led the world in measuring the cost-effectiveness of new treatments, and its actions are closely watched by other governments and insurers, particularly in Europe.
Morgan Stanley said it was possible the NICE recommendation could lead to a 13-15 percent European price cut, reducing the size of the market by $102 million, or 5 percent in 2008, by $173 million in 2009 and $251 million in 2010.
That would translate into a 2010 earnings per share impact of 3 cents for Abbott, 2 cents for Boston Scientific, 2 cents for Medtronic and 1 cent for J&J, its analysts added. (Reporting by Ben Hirschler; Editing by Jason Neely)
Anyone queried BIG? I send email via their website.. no reply.

To be more accurate, he dumped it on 11/01/2007, but the announcement is made today.

Dear members, today.. John had further disposed off his shares and now he left with 5.73%. Seriously, de oni reason tat i can think of for such disposal would b "in need of $$" and "intention to resign" thus, need to clear his share.. Of course, one can still believe that CE might not b reachable end tis month, thus de disposal. Which i really dun noe at the moment. Almost all BIG's big shots will b in town tis week. Dun noe wat's de reason yet. will update asap if i got info... |
