You are right...

And at that time (when it was @1.40),

many are bound to be arguing that it may go up some more

       because of great fundamentals...

and, of course, also because of overall market confidence and optimism...

This also applies to many, many other blue chip counters.

And many people are still a long, long way to their break-even point,

let alone talk about making money from their 'long-term' investments... Smiley

Today, Raffles Education gap down for the 2 consecutive days and close at $0.295 with HIGH trading volume of 24.2 million shares.

A falling window occurred (where the bottom of the previous shadow is above the top of the current shadow).  This usually implies a continuation of a bearish trend.  The two candles preceding the falling window were black, which makes this pattern even more bearish.

Three black candles occurred in the last three days.  Although these candles were not big enough to create three black crows, the steady downward pattern is bearish.

RSI & MACD are bearish with both indicators in negative region.

Important Resistance of Raffles Education: $0.32

Immediate Support of Raffles Education: $0.275

1)     Major trend of this counter is “down trend”

2)     Prices below 50/100/200days MA

3)     Prices gap down for 2 consecutive times with high volume.

Although we do not know any fundamentals of Raffles Education but any attempts to buy this counter now would be dangerous based on the above 3 points.

Even if u are very interested to buy at such a cheap price, i would suggest to wait for the selling pressure to ease first

Raffles Edu broke the critical support at 32 cents today , it would go down further to find a new support .

Raffles Education clarifies

its position in Bangkok

Jo-Ann Huang

joannhuang@mediacorp.com.sg

SINGAPORE

Raffles Education’s chief executive officer Chew Hua Seng said in a statement yesterday that RBK was in talks with Thailand’s

Higher Education Commission (HEC) to meet these regulations, which were brought to its attention last November.

According to media reports, the HEC alleged that the school did not obtain permission to run its top-up degree programmes.

HEC also reportedly took legal action after a warning issued to RBK to cease operations last November was not heeded.

The institute conducts distance learning for a bachelor’s degree top-up programme from the Raffles College of Design and Commerce, which is based in Sydney.

RBK faces a fine of up to 500,000 baht ($20,400) and/or a jail sentence of up to one year, according to media reports.

Mr Chew explained that since 2001, RBK has been operating under a vocational licence as it is a design institute, and was told by the HEC last November to register as a university in order to continue its top-up degree programmes.

He said RBK’s premises lacks the amenities and land size required by Thai law governing universities, such as four acres of land, a canteen, a football field and other recreational facilities.

RBK promptly stopped accepting top-up degree students and held discussions with HEC to meet the land size and amenity requirements.

It also sourced for the land and explored potential collaborations with three Thai universities.

“The HEC’s disclosure of this issue to the media was unexpected as our dialogue with them is still ongoing. Moreover, RBK has, to-date, neither been served any writ nor fined by HEC,” said Mr Chew.

He assured shareholders that only 30 of the 390 student enrolled are affected by the new HEC ruling — a small number considering Raffles Education’s overall operations.— Raffles Design Institute (RBK), the Bangkok unit of Raffles Education Corporation, said it is working towards complying with regulations set out by Thai education authorities to operate as a university.

Raffles Education: Muted 3QFY10 Results

Summary: Raffles Education Corp (REC) posted a pretty muted set of 3QFY10 results. Revenue edged another 10% YoY and 5% QoQ lower to S$44.7m, as its student population continues to slip. Although REC managed to post a higher net profit of S$9.1m, versus a net loss of S$16.5m in the same period last year, which was also 30% higher QoQ, we note that it was lifted by a non-cash fair value “gain” of S$5.5m on its investment property (OUC).

For the nine months of FY10, revenue fell 9% to S$143.4m, meeting around 67.2% of our full-year forecast, while net profit fell 28% to S$30.1m; but if we exclude exceptionals and forex losses, we estimate that its core net profit amounted to around S$28.1m, which is around 67.8% of our FY10 forecast. While it appears that the worst may be over for REC, we think that the short-term outlook remains muted; we opine that enrolment numbers still need to show a sustainable increase.

As such, we maintain our HOLD rating and S$0.37 fair value (based on 20x blended FY10/FY11F EPS). (Carey Wong)
