  Keppel Corp- Technical Analysis

Keppel Corp stock had shown a multi-week congestion above support of a longer-term rising trendline near 11.26 before eventually clearing the upper range confine at 11.70 last Wednesday. This bullish breakout implied resumption of the major bull market towards a target at 12.40. Price hit a 31 month-high at 12.46 on Thursday and shaped a bearish candle in the daily chart, indicating a possible near-term pullback. The past two sessions the stock finally pulled back sharply and reached the prior breakout level at 11.70 on yesterday's drop. This overbought correction could extend in price and time. Next support is seen at 11.42 and then 11.24. Violation of the latter level would inflict serious technical damage and shift the mid-term bias from bullish to neutral. Next resistance is yesterday's downside gap at 11.86. Key resistance is seen at 12.46/12.50. A weekly close above 12.50 could trigger follow-through buying pressure towards 13.80 intermediate-term.

Keppel Corp said on Thursday that it has secured a contract worth about US$416 million to build two harsh environment jack-up rigs from Discovery Offshore SA. The jack-ups are scheduled for delivery in the first and second half of 2013, respectively. Discovery Offshore has options to order two additional jack-up units as part of the contract, which if exercised will raise the total contract value to more than US$840 million.\

Keppel +4.9%; analysts laud results; $12.00 cap |

Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG) is +4.9% at $11.90 in active trade of almost 9 million shares, at its highest level since June 2008, as analysts laud the rig builder’s 4Q results and increase target prices and earnings estimates. DMG raises its target to $13.00 from $12.00, keeps at Buy, after raising FY11-12 EPS estimates by 8% and 7% respectively “as we tweak our O&M billing schedule and raised margins for old orders.” Deutsche Bank, which has a Buy rating, raises its target to $14.20 from $13.50, saying Keppel “is well positioned to benefit from any upgrade, replacement and new build opportunities in the O&M sector. Property also seems promising with its strong launch pipeline and capital deployment opportunities.” Goldman Sachs, which reiterates its Buy call, raises its target to $13.50 from $13.00, saying stock catalysts include a strong pipeline for new order wins, rising crude oil prices (house 2011 forecast is US$100/bbl) and consensus earnings upgrades. Orderbook suggests $12.00 is likely to cap gains today. |
