DJ MARKET TALK:SingTel +1.0%; Fundamentals Still Challenging -UOB
Dow Jones Newswires | 04 Jun 2010 3:36pm

0736 GMT [Dow Jones] SingTel (Z74.SG) +1.0% at S$2.99, extending largely sustained gains since hitting 12-month low of S$2.75 last week. Technical indicators looking better with RSI showing stock starting to head above neutral region, while MACD has issued bullish crossover. Still, fundamentals remain challenging with telco, its associates facing rising competitive pressure. UOB KayHian, which has Hold call with S$2.88 target, says SingTel's dominance in Singapore's corporate data services market will be challenged with roll-out of government-initiated national broadband network, which expected to offer more competitive prices; adds Indian associate Bharti (532454.BY) under pressure with more new entrants in market, while Indonesian associate Telkomsel faces slower growth. Immediate resistance at S$3.02, 50% retracement of fall to S$2.75 from year-to-date high of S$3.29. (frankie.ho@dowjones.com)

Yeah... agree... till now, i still worry about another crash...

when crashed... there is no logic... whether company fundamental good or bad ..

i did unload 100% of my holding at early 2008 ...

share a quote "when you leave everything to luck, suddenly, you feel you're out of luck"

i always feel i'm not the lucky guy... so, i don't leave it to luck only...

Actually, I am referring to the 2007 and the subsequent peak...

I escaped the big down moves, and thus saved a bundle...

Now I can consider to buy,

But after buying, I will dump fast if I feel uncomfortable...

Hope you didn't misunderstand me... Smiley

Quite right.

If you have brought SingTel at its high 20 years ago, you'll find your investment is about the same 20 years later today.

SingTel is a safe stocks to play, as long as you Buy at its low and sell at its high.

Even if you Buy at its high, you'll know it'll come back again.

Unlike many stocks, when you Buy at their highs, you'll never have the chance to see that high again.

Now is SingTel's low, a good time to Buy.

I suppose for people who don't have a good working  knowledge of price technicals or market dynamics,

they would have no choice but to hold their stocks even when they are not gaining.

But for those who do, it is clearly suicidal to hold when a downtward rend  is likely to be in the works.

Thus, many who sold at the peak of a bull trend would have avoided having their stocks decimated before their eyes, and they can then consider buying in again at times like now.  Smiley

Sorry, correction.

SingTel is not low, just that there is more upside than downside.
