There is very huge correlation between high dividends that track profit growth and corporate governance.

Did BioTreat ever trade at a div yeild of 5% when you bought it?

According to share investment BioTreats present div yeild is 2.1%- not enough to give me confidence, it can easily fall more,  when you bought it its dividend yeild may have been even less.

What i mean is that managent may say anything but dividends paid represent real earnings that cannot be faked, and there is a  certain yeild below which the stock will not fall. If the dividend yeild is greater than the maximum interest rate you can get then you have to worry less.

Ok, ok I exaggerate, even high dividend companies can have issues,  but receiving high dividends gives me feel more confident about the management and I note that the stock will fall less if valuation is cheap anyway.

It is wrong to say corporate governance is less of an issue for dividend paying stock. There is no correlation at all. Look at Bio-Treat awhile back. I was burned quite bad. Lucky I only have 1 lot. The stock was good but then later dunno which big shot kena sacked and then counter-sue etc etc drama that the price lao sai and then later climb up to today pricing.

I learnt my lesson that sometimes corporate governance can have an effect on the share price of the underlying stock.

Who knows why the price falls or rises? The day to day price fluctuations is merely temporary supply and demand and has nothing to do with the company or business.

Corporate governance is less of an issue for high divdend paying companies like bright world, I really dont care what the accounting says, if the dividend yeild is greater than the bank interest rate and there is no debt ,  I will buy an hold.

Went downtrend from 22 Nov as expected...

Now it may be on a trend reversal upwards. Wait for a couple for days to confirm.

OCBC had called for buy on this b4, but cannot remember the target px. I had taken a look at its chart, & my personal opinion was also that it is on downtrend. Currently trapped between 39.5 ~ 41.5

Even if break 41.5, it faced another heavy resistant at 44c. So to me, the risk/reward ratio is unjustified.

Passed.

According to shares investment no 291 for a price of s$0.37 it has dividend  yeild of 5.2% , a p/e of  7.7 a ROE of 43% and I think it has no long term debt. Fundamentally it is a Buy. I bought some recently at 0.43. It is a low risk buy as even if the price falls i can hold until it recovers while earning more than bank interest and if the companies growth plan turns out ok then there is upside.

Yes, I agree with allantanhc... potential to move north a little.

I don't do averaging also. I just follow the trend and buy and sell en-bloc.

Hi, lowpeckkiyau,

I used to do averaging down. After I have learnt more about share trading, I do not do averaging down any more. Since I do not think it is a good idea to do it, I don't think I should suggest to you to do it.

At the point when I convinced myself that it was a bad idea to average down, I did have quite a few losing counters which were similar to the situation you are at right now. What did I do? I studied the charts of those counters. Those clearly on downtrend, I closed my eyes and sold. Those that were trending upward, I did a revaluation and brought them down to the market value. After that, if they continue to trend upward, I will hold. If they dropped below my stop loss point, I let go.

I do not know whether my experience makes sense to you. As for this stock, looks like there is a good chance that the price may move up further from here. You may want to hold on to it. That's as much as I can advise you here.

Having hit a low of $0.34, the counter has recovered to where it is today. It is still moving within a downtrend channel. However, at yesterday's closing, it was touching the downtrend resistance line. With this morning's price movement, I see that the downtrend resistance line has been breached. So, it could well be moving upward from here.

I see that its on a long downtrend. Its been going down for some time already.

Beware of "information" ... the sources could have motives. So you should take it with a pinch of salt.

Bright world is in deed very bright (on rotional play) +0.03 cents, closed at $0.46 on vol of 17.1 mil, going forward mkt can been seeing some +ve and better day. Given this day uncertainty in this type og mkt, up one day down another day, it have to hit it volume 1st, then ppl will take action, may then hit it px of $0.60 (which is oso a difficult task rite now), so have some profit, take some and leave some for other.

Bright World's new plant will double production capacity of its machines in two years. As these machines command better selling price and margins, it is expected to reap positive gains going forward.

Bright World makes stamping machines used by car and electronics manufacturers to cut and bend metal.

DBSV has a price target of $0.75.
