Yea. I think it's a wise choice not to get involve in UTs. Normally for UTs, use just use the CPF money to invest. Otherwise, for hard cash, use park it somewhere else more lucrative and hassle free.

Not all UTs will help you to earn money. Some hv good returns and some you hv to wait long long leow. My first bank's UT investment was in 1996. 1997 financial crisis crippled my UT more than half. It took about 10 yrs to nearly break even. In 2006 I released the UT at a loss of $900. I switched UT to emerging global market China, India, South Korea and Spore Stock Blue Chip related UT. All these UTs has no guarantee returns, taking with your own risk, though with sweet talk by the so-called the fund advisors sitting at the corner of the banks, he he.

I didn't keep all these UT more than a yr. When my target reached, I dumped them away. Two of five UT got 20-23% returns, the other 2 about below 10% whereas the last one, I dumped it less than 6 mths as it plunged above my 10% margin. The other main reason I bought them then was because I can get more than 4.5% or above on 3 mths FD tieing to the same amount invested in the UT.

Buying official UT just like the unofficial along money lender, upfront you hv to lose out the 4-5% management fee and the recurrent daily admin fee. Hence, putting a deep thought on it, I will never get involve in UT again. Of course if the UT is really very good one, then that is exceptional leow.

Couldn't agree more on the diversification of our portfolio, and that means not only restricting ourselves to stocks.

Well, the concept is similar to structured deposit but the products are not. The catch other than a lump sum is the time factor with projected returns. There is a difference between capital protection and returns guarantee. This investment engine by nature is essentially real estate driven and not based on funds or ILPs. As mentioned earlier, returns are conservatively projected over 8-15% p.a basis. Lowest was 8% and some returns were much more than 15%. Another point to note is the proven solid track records.

Well, don't think it will be ethical or possible to reveal much more info without flouting the house rules. But am sure there are alternative methods to find out more separately.

Stock market can be violatile but this depends on diversification of your portfolio. Buying blue chips with high dividend return now could help to realise the same returns without freezing your capital.Yes, there could be downside but if you are looking at 8-10 yrs the risk is very minimal....Personal point of view.

even private banker dont guarantee the client such return....., this can be only a "projected" return with certain risk level involved. name the exact fund name or investment (probably insurance link products) as people can get to know more.

So its kind of UT + structure deposit huh? What is the catch other then big lump sum? Kind to reveal more on the product ie. which bank/company offer such instrument and its guarantee return over time.

No la. Def not Ah Long. Since when Ah Long is safe and gd returns? And returns from CPF is crap. Most UTs out there can provide better returns over a timeframe of 8-10 yrs.

This lobang is not volatile like stocks. So dun expect 'fast money'. But returns are steady and capital protected. I would say it's more of a savings plus investment kinda of concept. Similar to structured deposits but returns are much better. Ideal for people looking at keeping their money safe and generating gd returns

And of cos it is not all good. Downside of this lobang is one lump sum in, one lump sum out after a few years. But in a way, it will force you not to anyhow spend your money unwisely also.

p/s: 8-15% pa is just a conservative measure.

Anyone interested in investing in a safer area whereby you can earn 8-15% compounded per annum? Much better than FD with better returns and equally if not just as safe.
