Hi, arowana1.

nice little problem you have there.

I suggest shorting 10 lots in the morning and buy back 9 lots in the afternoon.

How's that?

Just kidding only.

i dunno whether to laugh or to cry... my buy-in on fri turned out to be 1 lot instead of 10.  missed out one 0...  darn wat do i do with one lot of singtel?  sell first?  or juz hold since one lot dun really make a lot of difference, esp when brokerage fee would have wipe out >$50

$3.16 may be quite a stretched goal :-P

Right now, I don't have a more foolproof way to determine the likely supports (and potential buy points) beyond the 3.86 level. Have to see how the trend goes. Just hazarding a guess, if the price drops to say, $3.50 - 3.60, it might be worth a look. I'm basing this merely on the price movement magnitude seen in Aug 07 of abt 40c.

Still, this is purely a conjecture. Caution in trading always!

Very true CWQuah, the power of sentiments could spread like disease and could turn into a raging epidemic if not contained in an early stage. With SingTel strong fundamentals and wide coverage and supports, the spreads may not be too wide! A good stock to hold in such an environment - be defensive! cheers!

By the looks of DJIA tonight (went down 200+ pts earlier), better wait for lower prices before entering. If DJIA continues to look the same way for the next week, I'm afraid it might even be possible to buy at $3.86. It's two sides of the same coin - cheaper prices either mean undervalued acquisitions ripe for picking, or just hurts existing holdings.

FA, TA may look good, but let's not underestimate the power of market sentiment.

Haha Kilroy, it's harder than saying 'Chiong Ah!' :-P

Singtel is still growing - well-invested in growing telecoms markets in Australia Optus, India Bharti, Pakistan Warid, plus AIS, Telkomsel etc. Ghana another potential market, plus latest entry into infotainment with Mio TV.

Dividends given out consistently since 1994. Latest for this yr was 9.5+6.5c special div. Cash cow with $13b annual revenues, net profit between $800-900m per qtr. Debt/equity only 0.2, profit/interest expense = 24x. Free cash flow of $556m as of Jun 07.

Top capitalised company in STI (around S$58b mkt cap), many funds are vested in this too, heavy institutional support. CEO just bought another 1.9m shares this week between $3.96 - 4.1, on top of previous purchase @ $3.48.

As for technicals, supports at $3.86, $3.94 coincide with Fibo 50% & 61.8% retracements of the uptrend from 10 Sep to 10 Oct (3.56 - 4.18). Uptrend line (from 21 Aug to now) only breached today with low @ 3.92, but bounced back to close @ 3.98.

So, potential zone for accumulation within the 50% & 61.8% band, average is 3.90, provided more pressure exerted on STI or some other big financial event depresses Singtel's price.

Just my opinion, vest with care!

Saying attractive is easy.  *wink*

Is it of value at the current price is another question.  To the value investor, you will need to substantiate your 'acttractive' call with fundamentals or to the trader, the technicals.

Singtel is looking attractive now - if price reaches 3.9 and below, might be great to grab a bit.

Wow. Since he is seeing more value in Singtel, the share price may project higher. Looks like I have to raise my buy price during the next down turn if the fundamentals warrant it.  : )

koolsice, I suppose you're in for the long term (accumulate when weak and hold untill reaching your own target or forever or whatever!).

I'm also in for the long term, but as a long-term-trader!

If you're what I think you're, maybe you could take a closer look at Starhub as an alternative to SingTel. Reason is simply better returns on the long run as shown by it's 3Q Reports and still improving. Both are good investments, though! Cheers!

koolsice, All shares are entitled to dividends whether it is 1k lot or 100 or 10 if they're registered b4 book closure date of the Company. Hope it helps to clarify your question. Cheers!

Hi everyone.

If I get shares in let's say, Singtel 100, will I get the dividends as well? If I do, it will be pro-rated to how many shares I have right?

A little bit of window dressing and some Foreign-Funds are coming in to park their money in SingTel due to the strong Sing$(taking a more defensive stance). Thanks to the recent Financial Crisis in the US and its effects globally - the dust is still not settled as yet!

Lock in some profits and wait. Cheers!

Hi, Kilroy.

Agree with you that the doji shows possible trend reversal. It may even be a harami doji.

However, I think that any trend reversal at this point in time will be short-lived.

The evening star on 18,19 and 20 Sep only caused a very short trend reversal the following day, thus telling me that the uptrend is indeed very strong.

I will be waitig at 3.80,3.82 area to catch some, again.

ten4one, your opinion?

A doji is formed (tug-of-war between buyers and sellers) at the closed.

A possible trend reversal. ADX shows show strong trend however +DI has reversed.  When -DI reversed, we are in for a confirmed trend reversal.
