I am VERY positive towards these china counters.

They are all within my comfortable price ranges now.

Will grab more at opening tomorrow!

I am not particularly concerned about the subprime woes at US now. It should be China that we are looking at now:

1) Announcement of QDII.

2) Watch out for the chinese new year rally that is set to come this feb!

Cheers!

Longcheer is near to its 52week low. Looks like a VERY good time to accumulate on weakness.

Loaded up 50 lots last friday (14 Dec).

Company's fundamentals are strong and check out its EPS...

Now watch longcheer rebound from here.

Cheers!

I can't remember when was the last time I cheered this counter. They never seem to recover from their slump.

Singaporegal, what dose the TA charts tell you about Hongguo? Thanks.

CIMB-GK is negative on Longcheer because of the following reasons.
  • Lack of new GSM features hurting margins
  • Increased competition
  • Poor earnings outlook.

CIMB-GK is cutting Longcheer?s earnings by 46-53%. They downgrade Longcheer from Outperform to Neutral and reduced their tp from $1.64 to $0.78.

Looks like it bottommed at $0.64. Going up.

It has invested in Orisil Technology Inc. which has a wholly owned subsidiary, Orisil Technology (Shanghai) Co. The principal activity of Orisil Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd is the design of Bluetooth chipset.

The investment was funded through internal resources and is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated NTA per share and EPS of the Company for the current financial year.

According to Digitimes, handset chipset maker MediaTek reportedly has set up a handset-design company to develop customized software andapplications for telecom services carriers.

- The majority of engineers of the newly established handset-design company come from BenQ and Dart.

- Since MediaTek has a large pool of clients in the handset making industry, especially in China, the new handset design company can offer those clients turnkey solutions, including customized software, which will allow development of customized handsets for telecom carriers

Longcheer counts on Mediatek as one of their major handset chip supplier. As a result of this latest development, the competitive landscape for Longcheer has worsened, especially with Mediatek being vertically integrated and extremely aggressive.

Longcheer?s other competitors include China Techfaith and Sim Tech.

SHANGHAI, June 1 (Reuters) - China will tender contracts in October worth 4 billion to 6 billion yuan ($523-785 million) for handsets based on the country's homegrown third-generation mobile phone standard, its first big procurement offer, an industry group said on Friday.

Eighteen companies are expected to bid for contracts offered by China Mobile, the world's largest wireless carrier, to make 2 million handsets based on the TD-SCDMA (time division synchronous code division multiple access) standard, said Chen Haofei, secretary general of the Beijing-based TD-SCDMA Forum.

Firms expected to bid include ZTE Corp. (000063.SZ: QuoteProfile , Research)(0763.HK: QuoteProfile , Research), Datang Telecom Technology (600198.SS: QuoteProfile , Research), Samsung Electronics (005930.KS: QuoteProfile , Research), LG Electronics (066570.KS: QuoteProfile , Research), Motorola (MOT.N: QuoteProfile , Research), Haier Electronics Group Co. (1169.HK: QuoteProfile , Research) and Huawei Technologies [HWT.UL].

"It is the first large-scale purchase, because it's reached one million to two million," Chen said in a phone interview. He said it was still too early to say which company may get the biggest share of the tender.

The TD-SCDMA Forum was established in 2000 by eight firms -- China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Datang, Huawei, Motorola, Nortel (NT.TO: QuoteProfile , Research) and Siemens (SIEGn.DE: QuoteProfile , Research) -- according to its Web site (www.tdscdma-forum.org), and promotes the standard.

After years of delay and with a potential $10 billion of network gear orders in the balance, Beijing recently extended precommercial TD-SCDMA trials to 10 cities from five.

The extended 3G trial, which authorities said was necessary to ensure a smooth start-up of the data-rich standard, could last until the end of October, analysts have said.

China, which hopes to offer high-quality broadband Web access for visitors to the 2008 Olympics, is not expected to roll out 3G until later this year, or even next year, they added. ($1 = 7.6470 Yuan)

Hi sojourner,

I think its still too early to tell if it has truly bottomed out. Wait for trend reversal in the price.

Agree with victorf...

On contra, beginners note:

One should not "contra" for "contra" sake.

But if one has just bought and the price shoots up wildly,

then by all means "do the contra" if you are satisfied with the gain..

based on TA (no FA), this stock achieves its KRD (key reversal day) in the past few weeks...means it reverses its downturn trend and will try higher high in the long-term (but does not mean it will not dip in the process)...key support point to take note at around $0.74 (short term support point), $0.67 (strong mid term support point), $0.58 (very very strong long term support point), and key resistance point to reach $1 to take note at $0.78...good luck and not for contra unless "disclipine" is embedded into your "brain and heart
