Smiley

At least company is still profitable, i reckon 38-40m of profit tis yr though down over 30% compared to the last is still something commendable.. Other nice thing going is tt they managed to gain 50% of MAP Tech, an up-and-coming HD maker

The chance of the share will move upward is stronger. Since the MACD can't tell the direction. I am using Accu/Distri (based on volume) to show that the share is starting accumulate, and RSI signal still below 50 and the trend is still moving up. (Just an opinion..^_^'')

Yup, we may be seeing a double-bottom formation.

But Stochastics and SMA has not given any positive indication as yet for a break out.

So the climb for these few days may be just due to good sentiment which carry over to most counters and some investors taking some small position for their long term portfolio due to the very low share price now.

Not much significant impact or improvement to the share price as of now.

Bollinger bands getting tighter on this counter again. Large price change may occur soon. But I am uncertain of the direction of change.

Its 9 months to Sept 2007 sales has declined 21% yoy to $654mln while net profit has declined 24% to $40mln. Consensus is expecting full year sales todecline 30% to $900mln and net profit to decline 21% to $55mln.

This is in sharp contrast to consensus expectations (as well as management expectation) at the beginning of this year, on average forecasting net profit growthof 20-25% to $85-86mln.

Jurong Tech's woes largely reflect its major customer?s (Motorola) well-documented troubles,  where its market share fell from 20+% last year to10+% this year, even losing its second position to Samsung. Motorola's bottom-line swung into a loss in 1H2007. Motorola's share price has halved from its high in early 2006.

Despite Jurong Tech's depressed share price, it had on 28/12 announced a deeply discounted rights issue on the basis of 3 for 10 at 37 cents each. At that time, Jurong Tech's share price of $0.74 each gives a theoretical ex-rights price of $0.655 suggesting a 44% discount. (besides the lacklustre financial performance, this could be another reason for the very weak share price performance).

The rights issue will raise an estimated $51mln in proceeds which will help reduce its high gearing. At end Sep '07, gross borrowings total $368.243mln versus cash of only $28mln and shareholders funds of $269mln, giving a net gearing of 1.3x. With the proceeds from the rights issue, net gearing would decline to 1.07x, which is closer to management's target of 1x.

However, this would result in earnings per share dilution of about 30% for '08, implying that EPS could potentially decline 30% given the flattish net profit consensus expectation for '08.

I lost a lot on this counter. I had thought to be long-term holders, but now become loser. I suspected that the company's Learders can do nothing except to cheat us, stockholders. Their profit and bonus may come from our bleeding. According to market report, in next year, such kind of technology stock will continue lose market. Don't touch this rubbish, far from it!!!  There are so many other good stocks, no need to stick to it.

According to Digitimes.com, Motorola is expected to expand its outsourcing policy by increasing the ratio of ODM handsets to its total output to 50% in '08 compared to 40% in '07.

Under the new outsourcing strategy, Motorola is expected to outsource 75-80 million handsets to Taiwanese ODM makers in thecoming year, with more than 50 million units outsourced to Compal Communications and the rest of the handsets outsourced to Chi Mei Communications System.

Taiwanese and Korean component suppliers, including Toppoly Optoelectronics (display), Wintek and Giantplus Technology (CTSN panels), Career Technology and Ichia Technology (flexible PCBs), Silitek (keypads) and Compeq Manufacturing and United Printed Circuit Board (PCBs), Foxconn (PCBA and Box Build) and Inventec (contract manufacturing) will also benefit from Motorola?s increased outsourcing.

The above suggest that Jurong Tech and MFS Tech (60-70% reliance on Motorola for both companies) will likely continue to lose market share to Taiwanese and Korean competitors.

Besides severe pricing pressures from Motorola, the continued market share losses and intensifying competitive pressures from Taiwanese and Korean players have force both Jurong Tech and MFS Tech to look for new customers and products. However, the successful transition away from their heavy reliance on Motorola would likely take some time to materialize (probably 1-2 years), during which we see little reason to invest in both stocks despite their extremely depressed share prices (both trading at multi-year lows, implying significant underperformance relative to the market).
