i bought mine at 1.99 when it suddenly surged downwards on a single day, hmm wondering what price should i sell :)
thanks shplayer, and also ur analysis on starhub.
I think it won't fall much, just some profit-taking to celebrate the gains.
This counter is still sizzling hot in people's minds. :)
How come starhub falling again? I thought it should go up today.
Jackjames has explosive news for us?
standby........... *-*
I was all ready to jump in at 1.99 (exactly at my support) when it was down to 2.09.
But too bad it flew off before that. :(

jasjasjas,
Wow! you are a big fan of StarHub eh?
Yes, you are certainly right, it is a good defensive stock with reasonable div yield.
From the business point of view, I think, domestically, StarHub is the best of the 3 telcos.....offering the widest range of services (Cable TV, Internet and mobile).
Their one time payment for their 'fixed' line service will quickly gain momentum when they offer the users multi extensions solution.
Their strategy of customer loyalty.....iHub......discount for using all 3 services is very attractive to the market and will draw more subscribers from the mobile and internet market.
Their technology is excellent and customer service standard is way superior to SINGTEL (my personnal experience).
Currently, I use 2 of their services and I will soon be adding the 3rd service (mobile phone) soon. I am sure many subscriber in my situation will make the switch once their current contract ends.
When multi extension solution for the fixed line is available, I will switch it too.....then it is really GOODBYE to SINGTEL.
However, there are 2 issues with StarHub that, as an investor, I am concerned about.
- they have no plans to expand beyond the domestic market. This will limit their growth potential to 'organic' growth in a saturated domestic market.
- the recent capital reduction was overdone. Don't get me wrong, like all investors, I like companies returning excess capital to shareholders. In Starhub's case, the cap distribution turned the company from net 'cash' to net 'debt'. i.e. they borrowed money to give to shareholders......dosen't sound rational to me. If Starhub had so much excess $$$, I would have preferred they use it to expand beyond Spore. Then again, perhaps they were following directives from higher up who needed to raise $$ for their overseas forey...Shin Corp??.
As mentioned in earlier posts, StarHub was my first investment forey based strictly on TA. Prior to the investment, there was no FA studies done.....it was not a stock I have on my radar....So, when the stock ran after EPL announcement, I unloaded....as did other TA practioners.
agree, starhub is a great defensive stock & rising star company. solid FA, good dividend payout every qtr, monopoly in cable too
Actually I still think Starhub has potential to go north some more. It was just affected by market sentiment today.
Starhub now down to 2.31... all those who sold out last week must be laughing now!
Thanks singaporegal! Lemme know when you make your next trade ok?
Cheers!
Cheers!
hi, singaporegal... I see.. That's okay, we can wait for you to come back, ha ha.. By the way, I heard from some experts, saying" Buy after school holidays in Oct? and throw them off before Chinese New Year". That is Singaporean style of playing stocks.. lol... I found that quite an interesting statements.
Those that want to enter can consider to enter when it break out abv 2.44 with volume or wait a few days for it to consolidate and to see if the recent surge is not a 1 off spike.
Just did a TA on this COunter, the signal to buy( based on my TA style) is on 21st Nov and Buy Signal is confirmed on 22nd Nov and would have entered on 23Nov opening. Too bad it wasnt on my monitoring list..
How i wish got some software system to help me filter all this stocks...
Hi tanglinboy and jackjames,
My portfolio now is totally empty. I'm unloading because of my coming short holiday. I don't want to be holding shares when I'm somewhere were I can't monitor them.
