hm. my take on immortality:

when people say they want immortal life, what they really mean is immortal youth.



'cos i don't think anyone would want to live forever in a decrepit old, aging body, with alzhemier's, every part of you failing, can't walk, talk, remember, all your loved ones have passed away, etc. that's living death. Plus, to have to keep outliving and going through the deaths of all the people and things you love...

bioidentical hormones are expensive. you'd need to get HLA-typed and all that. (it does work tho from a medical perspective)

haha. no need to feel paiseh. it is a free forum. and no, we're not elitist/exclusive. anyone's welcome to post here. primarily so we don't irritate other serious forumers from their share discussion (SPC and immortality?? o_0 giantlow, does it feel that interminable to hold on to the counter? :P)

it would appear you are spiritually minded, so perhaps I should engage you on this level..re the way..i think so too, i mean I think, in our current live on earth we should develop ourselves (character & personality) to the point such that we can live in the eternity that will come..

The other 7 immortals I think have their own manner of expressing their own blissful joyousness...

Since all of them have attained Enlightenment of the Way, I suppose they would not be irritated by the flute playing, but rather would have immediately responded by adapting to the reality of the flute...

I believe such is the Way.

but I think of the other 7 poor  immortals who has to listen eternally to that guy playing the flute.. :-) , I hope he does not go off key too often... but presumably, when one have an eternal time to practise his music, it should be like what you said.. blissful and joyous... it is just that I suppose if one is to live eternally, we should have overcome our bad points otherwise live may be unbearable for the others who have to put up with it eternally...

tks, ipunter for the compliment, but no, I just happen to saw Larry King interviewing Suzanne Somers who really look gorgeous despite her being >50 yrs old.  And she swears by bio identical hormones.  These are some type of nutrifood that are the pre cursors of the hormones or something like that.  Checking the internet, I got this description  " Bioidentical hormones are custom-mixed formulas containing various hormones that are chemically identical to those naturally made by your body"  Currently the interest is in HRT,  for replacement female sex hormones, the theory is that these are better because they are natural..  rather than the synthetic estrogen that is extracted from horse urine etc....

but others think that there should be bioidentical hormones for the growth hormone and they are coming out with different prescription.. I understand this is a new  field, and actually is at alternative medicine stage rather then main stream medicine.. yes I think they need prescription and in the USA there are doctors (endocrinologists) specialising in bioidentical hormone medicine.. but if you are interested do search in google under word bioidentical hormones or perhaps try http://www.hormoneprofile.com/resources.htm

 

When immortality is mentioned, I immediately think of "Ba Hsien" (ie. the Chinese mythical 8 Immortals).

I especially like to think of their state of being, which is so blissful and joyous. This particularly applies to the one playing the flute... he exudes such eternal bliss... :)

 

i have not migrated anywhere lah, chinakiasu.

its just that i have large holdings in SPC, therefore i am more interested in it.



imortality reminds me of Celestial Nutrifoods, any take on that?

Why feel like an outsider? I think as long as you are here and care to join in, you are always part of this forum... :)

The concept of immortality is usually immediately regarded as supernatural when it is mentioned. This is because people usually think it means in terms of having their bodies live forever and thus find it  a far-fetched idea. But I suspect that our consciousness, ie. our awareness of who we are, being non-physical, can possibly be 'transferred'. I suppose this is something future scientists must  discover and learn to accomplish.
