Actually, there's no need whatsoever to create all the unnecessary problems arising from uncertainty and thus the resulting feelings 'insecurity' by one party in a relationship, especially if the 'insecure' party has the bargaining power or upper hand (such as being a gorgeous beauty, $loaded, etc).

Since trust is only a fragile thin thread at best, which can very easily be broken due to circumstances, just be practical and get all the basics done ie. get it all done in Yet it has to be done.

yes I see it as a form of insecurity and coupled with immaturity, it can become very tiresome ...  as it takes a lot of work from the other party to understand and take pain/time to provide the assurance and restore the security...

i see"Possessiveness" not as a form of selfishness but becos the person is scared to lose the person that he/she loves. But nonetheless, its is very tiring relationship.

yep lausk22, selfishness is definitely more common. but then, if man is truly halfway between the animal and the angel, i vote we at least try for the latter. :)

the practice is known as noblesse oblige. ie, noble obligations. the idea that if you have been given more, then you are obliged to return more to society.

incidentally my real name has the word 'noble' in its meaning.

ok lah, gotta go zzz. gonna be a long, long week at work this week. sigh.

Altruism or nobility is an extraordinary virtue. Selfishness or possessiveness is a more common animalistic instinct.

..otherwise known as insecurity.

but hm. weekend's over. gotta focus now. market's opening. what's up? anticipated correction's not coming--if you track the TA patterns, it got shaken off nicely by MM Lee and US's better than expected data--but what now? all a blank. all that talk about foreign liquidity and expected corrections guess games by 'experts'. And what's budget day gonna say? I don't believe in the kindness of governments, least of all ours.

gonna go sleep on it and decide my next move.

nites, all! sweet dreams. :)

and s'pore won the asean cup! *clap clap clap*

"Possessiveness" is a defensive manifestation of protecting one's self-interest.

why is "not cheating 'cos you don't want to be cheated on is reactive, isn't it? :P"

its just simple dun do unto others what u dun want to be done unto u mah. anyway, u dun like pple who are too possessive. i am not the most handsome guy on the planet so its ok for my gf to look at other guys, as long as she loves me the most.

On a somewhat digressing note, if immortality was really possible, then I wonder how the olden emperors of China are going to cope, with their fresh memory of themselves having hundreds of concubines all at once.

nono, you see. girls will initiate relationships. a woman, however, will never initiate one. they'll let the guy think he initiated it.

muahhahaa. :P
