Statoil books a dozen
The North Sea platform supply vessel (PSV) market was said to be “on fire” on Tuesday as more Statoil term bookings were revealed.

The Norwegian oil company fixed two Havila ships and a Rem Offshore unit on Monday for periods of at least four and six months, with rates pegged at around NOK 150,000 ($26,500) per day.
Brokers’ lists show another 12 ships taken by Statoil this week, including two on six-month deals: Gulf Offshore’s 4,800–dwt North Purpose (built 2010) and NorSea’s 4,000-dwt Viking Fighter (built 2012).
These contracts come with two optional periods of three months.
The other vessels, operated by companies including Volstad Shipping, Bourbon, Atlantic offshore and Dof, were taken for four months, all with four monthly options.
Availability in the spot market is understandably tight, with one vessel free in Norway and few due to return in the near future.
In the UK there is also one prompt ship open.
Rates should stay solid, brokers said, as the latest spot deals showed numbers climbing up to Ł17,500 per day.
