During this period of market pessimism and when BIG is still pre-earnings, it is certainly easy to cast doubt. In a market downturn, people will pounce on ANY small bit of negative news (cost pressures, etc) and weave a tale of doom around it. Heck, even companies with earnings visibility for the next few years are getting bashed. It is a testament to it's future potential that BIG has not dropped to become a penny stock.
Amongst SG stocks, BIG allocates the most investment into R&D in terms of revenue percentage. This, together with their IP rights, tells me that BIG is a very forward looking company led by a management with vision. How many people thought that Raffles Education would achieve the success it has today? BIG is starting off with an even stronger foundation.
Anyway, this is all just for discussion's sake, not asking anyone to buy or sell. The only thing I'm 100% sure of is that leaving my money to slowly rot in the current interest environment does nothing for my eventual retirement.
I read that "1-trick dog" comment in a DJ newsbite which was attributed to a "local analyst" but I've never been able to verify it in an actual report. If anybody found the said report, kindly post the link here. The only place I read this comment was a posting in the CNA forum. Either it was a deliberate attempt to take the wind out of the CE Mark news or DJ has some really crap reporters who can mistaken a public forum poster as an "analyst".
Btw, haha.. don't think our bengster is a director (YET!). Even Cosco's Raffles Hotel buffet didn't save their stock price, what can sushi do? Oishi! hee hee
Just heard news that the live balloon demo in NUS is a failure. In the end still put in a stent. back to square balloon + stent. No difference.
The market for mending hearts runs in billions of dollars each year. If ever there is any more lucrative business it is this business of saving lives. Many people are incentivised to explore new ways to do it. In the long term, BIG will also face competition from DES businesses. So don't be surprised to see many new products or alternative ones coming into the market.
Long term BIG will still be very much on top of most players. But BIG is small. The question is will BIG grow big?
quoted from one of the SI forumer
http://www.straitstimes.com/Free/Story/STIStory_214159.html
Extracted from the abohttp://www.straitstimes.com/Free/Story/STIStory_214159.htmlve "New Ballon" report:
"About 15 per cent of the patients who used the new balloon suffered a heart attack or died after six months." (this is known as MACE rate)
Extracted from Biosensor's "BIOMATRIX" stents report:
"12-month data from the BEACON study was also reported at TCT, by Prof Koh Tian Hai, Director of National Heart Center, Singapore. BEACON achieved its primary endpoint with 2.1 percent of target vessel revascularization and a 6.5 percent MACE rate over a 180-day period."
the newsapaper say MACE for DES was 30% and bare stent was 50%. yeap, biomatrix is 6.5% more superior than the balloon and other DES stent. The german company plan for CE this 2nd & 3rd quarter and only trial not long ago. Biomarix takes 2 years to get CE ,something is wrong here. Kelong.
What will BIG do if their ideas are stolen?
I luv that Police soundtrack"I'll be watching you........"
They have smart directors here. Going for sushi lunch with investors... :))
Ha! yeah.. its good to be humble.. we are all learning.. I guess our primary aim here at SJ is to learn from the experienced one from their failures and success..
yep, from TA point of view, BIG has the worst chart I ever seen in SGX. It's a chartist's worst nightmare. Hmm.. when I compare BIG to any deep Blue chips, none resemble BIG in any slightest way.
I do admire the conviction BIG investors possess and displayed.. but its a thin line between true conviction or self-denial. No hard feelings. Perhaps this new CEO can really bring BIG from ash to live.. But my question is does the stock really worth this much now? the IPO price for BIG is 70c since 2005. It hardly been profitable. so does it worth this much? One should really look deeper into it.. Yes, BIG jus got CE licence, so what? there are so many bigger firms with CE. like one of the analysts said, its a 1-trick dog.. Unless i see profit coming in, if not i doubt it worth this much.. likely it will go below IPO soon..
BTW, this stock is a high alpha stock.. so its go v in sync with the general mkt movement.
Just my own opinion..
some psychology influencing on Biosensors i think...
on a personal basis, just seeing the technical charts...
did noticed that the interest in Biosensors is quite a hyped up one for quite some time le....probably because big amt is being pumped into this counter fundamentally...
Ha! Arbitrager, I still prefer stupid bear. =) Smart bear too cocky. I'm still learning. Ha!
Actually this thread has been very active and form what I notice, it's very positive, no matter what happen. When sentiments is down, ppl here shouts buy! Something I'm quite amazed, such faith in the coy!
I din do a TA or FA on this counter cause, from 1 glance, it looks speculative to me. No offense but 'm just curious on the reason for such sentiments.
However, I do not write off the possibility of "prankers" who post as if they have very deep pockets, trying to create a postiive image, but I'm just curious. Someone elighten? Something I missed out or good to know?
one can easily state the fact on the fundamentals and technical side of a stock...but one thing...don't ever fall in love with the stock....buying up with sentiments may only prove to be a costly one...go with the flow...and not the feelings
oh stupidbear, u shd start changing to smartbear?
well u follow my threads on BIG, I have been asking people to dump this counter since 90c+... but somehow some group of people see something in this company you and I can't see.. including those long-term funds as well...
Well perhaps you and I can be wrong.. but I will only be interested to look at it when its P&L is in the black and by then perhaps the price will be 50+/60c?
all i can say is that it has no insti interest at all, so seems like only retail see something in this counter.. I dunno.. I really hope I can solve this mystery too..
please dun bombard me, I hope to listen and debate on constructive responses.. so that its informative and beneficial.
Just a gentle advice: its the biggest and lethal taboo in stock market to blindly love a stock.
$0.755 is the current support level
Care to enlighten me, where are you people so bullish on Biosensors with no regards to the market sentiments?
it sure dont come cheap..... but then if it can help u to live longer...and u can afford then i guess is ok....
expensive to get sick..........
Still managed to add more holdings at $0.78! Slowly building to 200 lots.. Life is good...
Would love to join the lunch gathering but too bad I live and work at the extreme end of Singapore. I'm sure there will be plenty of funny discussions about underwear and constipation.
Is there any "GOD" here today want to predict close @81.5¢? Anyone?
Hi ekekeg, the venue and type of food is fixed this time and sorry cannot be change. Japanese food is the most healthy food for Biosensors supporters. I think the Biosensors BBs are drooling for sushi also. So the lunch is strictly sushi only next week
Hi Bengster,
It is good to have some informal gatherings once in a while for people who are vested in a company to share their joy and frustration. Good and healthy for investors to have fellowship since they are all "co-owners" and could keep abreast of a company's development or health, or even discuss the market amongst themselves. AGMs are too formal and you and I have little or no say except for babbling on what we believe should be the way, but seldom easy for us to call for a vote.
I think most Singaporean investors are now quite sophisticated and intelligent, and by meeting amongst ourselves as individual investors in BIG or for that matter any listed company we invest, we can come up with many ideas or innovations which may for all intent and purpose put most CEOs on their toes.
But Bengster, I don't like sushi, so could I come?
