shplayer, victorian,  glad I joined the SJForumers. With U and so many others like U (too many to mention) I am getting such good advice - for a new player. I spent a lot of time looking after my children (now all grown up and with children of their own) I am able to earn some cake money through trading. Thanks a lot.

With so much money to be made, the STI may get to 4000 very soon before the corrections comes.

The problem is no one really knows when the corrections will start.

STI seems flat today... maybe a correction is going to occur soon? Victorian may be right.

victorian,

Well put.....just to add some details.....

look at some of our blue chip companies...they have become world leaders in their field....KepCorp for offshore rigs, Ascott for Service Apts, SIA for their premuim inflight service.

Then you have some who have not fully realised the full benefit of their investments - SCI's Faujiarah project, CapLand investment in China.

And the up and coming companies....Rotary, Boustead (Salcon),.......just to name a few.

Certainly, there will be bumps along the way......but I feel the general outlook is positive with most of the building blocks put in place in preparation for the next leap.

I remember, in the early 90's, before the Clinton Administration, DOW was trading in the range of 2000 to 2500 (ball park figures) and STI between 1300 and 1800.

When Clinton became President, and cleaned up the budget deficit left by Bush Snr, and propelled the USA economy, DOW quickly raced up. I remember analysts doubting it will break 4000, then 5000, then 8000...etc. It finally settled above 10,000 within a few years (think it took only about 2 yrs) ...This is about 4 - 5 X increase of the DOW index over that short period of time.

At that time, I was hoping the STI will also re rate in a similiar proportional magnitude. But, unfortunately, it remained stagnant in that range.

However, in recent times, the STI has broken out of that range,,,,,,and I wonder if this could be the period of re rating of the STI....to perhaps 3 - 4 X of 1500....say to 4500 to 6000.
