Just feel that if DOW can recover from a drop of 3-digit to close at below -20, we better be more cautious. Hopefully, MAS can come to the rescue with some assuring words or action.

it has been brought to my attention from some postings elsewhere there certain country stock exchange actually disallow contra and shorting tactics. i was wondering in times of need maybe SGX can impose that too. this is to prevent the bleeding downwards for even fundamentally strong stocks. wonder if SGX software can do that or it is built there already waiting for top mgmt to approve to trigger it? :)

Short sellers and funds have been trying even to sell down even fundamentally sound shares, whose companies are not affected at all by any subprime woes, coz  they are  cash rich or have very low gearing ratios.  Pse don't dump shares with strong fundamentals coz' you will be allowing them to buy them  cheaply.

Today, the STI is up a wimpy bit...

Probably caused by average investors (who 'average down' their losses)... Smiley

Me will not buy until me see W, WW, WV, U or _ _ _ _ _ . Look at June 2006 for guidance...

400 EMA may save the day for STI but .... who really knows what Dow is going to do next??

I am leaving them alone without doing anything, let the market or the supposedly big guys (jews at this very moment i suppose) do the talking instead .....even if it means i will be holding onto only toilet papers after this bloodshed Smiley Love to watch what's it gonna be....same or different way of ending during the 97's financial crisis...where i lost my company in 1999 even i wasn't into the stock market (holy cow)....more excited and interested to witness the whole transitional outcome than about my portfolio.

Ok. Tomorrow will likely to another bloody day for us.

For those still in +ve note in your portfolio, just cash out. Cash is king now.

For those in red, like me down by 35%, I am still thinking of what to do now. Although have the holding power. But it just seem illogical to hold on without doing anything.

Good luck to us.

as the DOW plunges continuously ...Singaporeans will be focusing more on the 2800 STI mark... as many believe it will rebound upon touching the support...psychologically if it hits 2800 and market sentiments are alright or even on average...we will see it climb back up slowly

Just after World War 2, a woman by the name of Anne Scheiber used her $5000 savings to buy Coca Cola and Pepsi stocks. It grew to 22 million dollars 50 years later.

At this uncertain times, people entering retirement age should not be in stocks but I believe its an opportunity for the younger crowd.  I am 27, and although Ms Scheiber story is an inspiration, I do not think that I can hold that long. And yet I don't want to miss the opportunity of having TIME by my side.(unless premature death takes hold of me first :)  )

My advice for those who are in fear and yet do not want to miss this opportunity - dun use your cash in investing - use your CPF instead. The pain may be less I believe.

Just a thought.

Regards.
