lg1167,
If it was so simple to predict the market through TA,FA, Co results, we will all be very rich eh?
I suppose it is the vaguegarities of the market that keeps us glued to it; to try to find ways to outsmart it.
There is always the trailer after the target price in the analyst reports ... "over the next 12 months".
Really cannot understand the market reactions! Counter that have not make monies or lost monies but based on rumours/sentiments...counter moves like nobody iz but SPH improved earnings with strong fundamentals......price moves southwards!! I am at a lost and begin to think charting/TA/whatever tools are bullshits! Today, it is pure gambling and the lucky ones win!! Very disappointed with SPH....fyi i did not vested in SPH but like to share my 1 cent thought.
Take Profit (TP), unless Target Price(s) is/are your breakeven price/s.
It's their bait for you to go aim for... but if you don't go all the way there, it should be fine... :)
Yup, 'target price' is a trap set by the Big Boys, Punter2006 .... I don't trust them. Not vested, but SPH is fundamentally sound due to its monopoly in paper media.
I have notice that they have set target prices of 4.90s to near 5.00 quite some time back. But this is really a supper laggard. Might not reach this target price.
Check out these links ... all target price for SPH above 5 bucks leh!

I am just a novice but have been reading up the good posts in SJ. I see resistance at 4.56. Can the TA expert advise if this is similar to what you see? Thanks.
vested by the way.
it seems to go sideway after every announcement.
chipchip66,
'Great minds think alike' or 'Fools seldom differ'?
He he
I bought at $4.22 and gotten the dividend of 17 cents. If sell now, still make profit but thought that we good result announced, the price should trade higher.... disappointing. Hmmm... now should I just sell and take profit ?
Credit Suisse on Tuesday raised its rating to "outperform" from "neutral" and set an end-of-2007 target price of $4.86.
Analyst Sean Quek said the group's first-quarter results were in-line with expectations but that profits from its Thomson Road property development should take effect in fiscal year 2008. He said that its dividend yield could jump to 6.9% in 2008 and 7.6% in 2009.
Hey me too! bought at $4.02 and sold at $4.24!
chipchip66,
Me too...bought in before FY06 results announced at about $4.02-$4.04 and sold at cd at about 4.22+.
No sweat....was easy money....let others make some too...share the good fortune.
Having said that, i am not vested as i let go too early during cd time last time round.
Yes shplayer, the management is still in their comfort zone but i think this year SPH wake up not bcos of the management but bcos of fund managers buying into this baby. My Gut feel is that it will reach a few peaks this year.
chipchip66, RO125per,
Yes, I totally agree wih your comments.
Perhaps I was too brief with the previous post.
The point was trying to make is I am not too impressed with its management's performance. Given its monopolistic position, they should do much better.
As is usually the case, monopoly is a huge disincentive to try harder......management become too complacent.
hi lookcc , tks u very much for the info ^_^ ...
with the hot cond sale by end 2nd half, I predict 5 is reachable.
