Sorry, mistake,, only 0.62million, not even 1 million Net Profits,, Keppel owns 42% of SPC...
SPC CEO even uncertain on outlook, He said future is uncertain due to Oil Voliatiity..he didnt offer any optimises abt the future,, 2.1million of barrels inventories at average price above 100, how he is going to deal with the inventories?.. More writeoffs in the subseqent Quarters...???
SPC should be forgiven for 99% drop of earning. Just short it!

It could have been priced in, look at the chart, it had dropped from jun $7 plus to current price $3 and market may have discounted the news & are forward looking. Business Times article dated 29/9 (Value investing in the local mkt), Merril Lynch analyst anticipates that "there will be a sharp rebound in Singapore refining marginsfrom mid-Sept, when demand from China is expected to return to pre-Olympicslevel and seasonal demand kicks in".
nett profit [jan to sep '07] 389M vs [jan to sep '08] 279M, down by 28%.....eps, of course also down by 28% [jan to sep 07] 75cts vs 54 cts [jan to sep 08], nav as at end sep 08 is 343cts n [based on 2day's px of 301cts] p/e is 5.5.......divvy had never been declared in 1st. n 3rd. qtrs, divvy only declared in 2nd. n 4th qtrs............good 4 shorting 2morrow???
Think I highlighted a few times not to buy some time ago.

yup, must compare orange with orange.......not orange with apple.
both SPC n Cosco are in diff entity. former is oil refining and marketing of crude products and the later main bulk of its business is marine engr.
During the credit clunch, marine sectors got hit the most whereas the essential products provider,SPC, is less susceptible to the crisis. Moreover, it has its own oil fields and now crude is cheaper. Its barrel's.
earning would be quite substantial in the last qtr.

SPC closed at 3.24 n STI at 1948.33 last Fri.
Today, analyst said/guess? that CO will go down to 70 USD by end this yr.
Lets give an optimistic 10 % drop in STI by end this yr owing to poor economy. Hence,
STI will stay around 1753(weeks ago Citi rated 1700) and SPC correspondingly adjusted to 2.92.

SPC ha, one of the top gainer dis morning. CO down it went up. Yesterday, it shoot up 47 cts while market opened. But by close, it merely earned 3 cts????
Still vested, waiting chances for tech short.
Right... to short, one must do it when it rallies high...
But the problem is, when it rallies high, few will want to sell... 
d SGX variant is small. short also no meat loh.
