Hyflux expects its China revenue to grow by 30% this year over last year in the fast-growing market, a senior executive said.

China, plagued by water shortages and worsening pollution, is thirsty for more clean water to feed its breakneck economic growth. Hyflux also expects its order book for China to grow by 30% annually over the next several years, Sam Ong, Hyflux's chief financial officer, said.

China is expected to make up around 65% of the company's total revenue in 2008, compared with 81% of its $192.8m in revenue in 2007, as its rapidly growing Algeria operations take on a bigger chunk.

Hyflux said last year it had invested in a joint venture to build a desalination plant in Algeria, which is expected to make up 20% of revenue this year, he added.

Hyflux had an order book worth $863 million in 2007. Hyflux, which has 39 plants in China, competes for projects with Chinese water firms such as China Everbright and Tianjin Capital Environmental, and foreign rivals including Darco Water, Bio-Treat Technology and Suez SA.

Highly geared counter. Cash flow is tight. PE is high. In terms of valuation, it is far too expensive as compared to the other water treatment and environment companies.

A no no for investors. Unless you are looking at the long term. But the barrier to entry in this market is no longer that difficult as compared to a couple of years ago. Many new players have the technology and know how and many companies have overtaken Hyflux. It is losing its competitive advantage.

SELL

Singaporegal,

Thanks. Current turmoil is making my head dizzy. Going to stay away from it for a while.

Hi Lazyhorse,

I don't really use Target prices. Just follow the trend.

From the charts, this counter's still looking somewhat bearish. Acc/Dist and Chaikin are heading southwards.

It slow moving as most of its projects had been materialised unless there is new project or post coy good result announced later.

It up 4 cents to 3.01 todate. It was at 3.11 on 8 Jan 08. Its history high is 3.72 and low is 2.04. PE is rather bad at 94.82.

My  view is don't touch it at this voletile moment, unless it goes down below 3.00 again. Cheers.

Last post on Hyflux was 1 month ago. Looks like TA charts have not changed. Still bearish looking.
