Rising costs, difficulty in raising capital may have led to 30% year-to-date fall in Singapore's water-related stocks; but growth outlook for these companies remains firmly supported by record orderbooks, buoyant long-term demand, says DBS Vickers. Expects "already robust" orderbooks to continue expanding given companies'' substantial exposure to China''s buoyant water sector, ongoing venture into other high-growth markets like Middle East, North Africa, India. Says stronger players which can better handle cost increases, obtain funding for new projects will still be able to eke out decent growth, despite rising labor, material costs. Picks Epure, Asia Environment, Hyflux, Hyflux Water Trust as favourites, with respective target price of $1.07, $0.64, $3.53, $0.90.

Hi ktlow08. According to CIMB, Hyflux's FY07 PE is 49.2x and FY08 PE is 28.6x.
Hi Zhuge_Liang, do you know Hyflux's trailing and forward PE? I always like the company but its PE has been rich and that keeps me away.

Hyflux wins bid to build US$468m Algerian water plant
Hyflux Ltd on Tuesday said it has won its largest job to-date and will build the world's largest seawater desalination plant in Algeria -- a project valued at US$468 million (about S$632 million). Hyflux's wholly owned subsidiary MenaSpring Utility (S) Pte Ltd has been awarded the contract by Algeria Energy Company (AEC) - the government company handling power and water privatisation exercise in Algeria.
The company will build a seawater desalination plant in Magtaa, Oran region, western Algeria with a capacity of 500,000m3/day using reverse osmosis membrane technology. The plant is the world's largest in terms of volume production. This is also the largest project to be undertaken by the group to date. Hyflux said it won the bid amidst intense competition from five other contenders comprising water organisations from Spain and other reputable international players from United Kingdom, Japan and USA. Hylfux will partner partner with AEC for the project. A joint venture company will be incorporated for the building of the plant on a design-own-operate-transfer (DBOOT) basis. The joint venture company is 51 percent owned by MenaSpring (or its nominee) and 49 percent owned by AEC. Under a 25-year concession agreement, the project company will supply 500,000m3/day of desalinated water to L'Algerienne Des Eaux (ADE), the state-owned national public water entity of Algeria and Sonatrach SpA, the national oil company of Algeria on a take-or-pay basis. Targeted for completion in about 2.5 years from financial close, 70 percent of the project cost will be financed through non-recourse project financing with local Algerian banks as arranged by AEC. -- BT Newsroom |
