From May Bank Kim Eng

Vard Holdings - NDR Feedback (Buy, TP $1.66)

-                 We hosted a NDR for Vard last week. Investors were concerned about 3 key issues: (1) margin expectations, (2) order win prospects and (3) Vard’s direction after the change in ownership. Maintain Buy, TP SGD1.66.
-
We believe that recent sell-down was due to consensus cutting estimates on overly optimistic FY13F forecast. We were well aware of the risks and our FY13F figures have been and remained the lowest in the Street.
-
However, we think that the market has underestimated the strength of recovering order wins. Management is confident of winning close to NOK12b in new orders against consensus expectation of NOK10-11b. We see room for upside surprise in contract wins.

bro SFGRZ, i know you are vested and would want to hear only good news. that's why you have made a mountain out of a molehill to our little gestures to sifu iPunter or/and student here who is known for his " ma hou pao" . but bear in mind we need to see both side of the coins. sifu iPunter for the past had given his hindsight on how this stock would fare but never once did he urge forumers to buy or sell as far as i remember as he himself believed it was a taboo which would in turn mislead some, esp newbies.

i had my position on the day after the general offer was announced failed. this co was thought to be undervalue with sound fundamentals. it had positive coverage from houses call for buy with tp ~$1.6-7. unfortunately the share price had been going south bound and side ways for a while. understand from various postings that sifu iPunter used to be vested in this counter but he chose to stay outside until the dust has settled. this prompted me to do more homework and tried to grasp from his perspectives ie. what pulled him back from staying vested. and i got my convincing answer and decided to cut lost after that.

finally i don't see any reasons why i can't post any views on this thread even though i have already sold off my shares...?? what kind of intentions do you think i have here??

If my posts even come across as personal attacks to that person, that means the person has something to be guilty about. And nope, I do not have an old nick, and neither do I have problem with iPunter (who the heck is he) or student. And seriously, whatever the 2 of you all's intentions are, especially when not even vested in this counter, you all know it better than me. I need not say or explain more lest I come across as insulting people's intelligence. Am off to bed. Have a good rest everyone.. Smiley

If you are a" mature adult with intelligence" you will not keep personal attacking! What is your old nick? You have problem with iPunter and student?

SFGuyRuleZ      ( Date: 29-Apr-2013 20:24) Posted:

Apparently, iPunter and student are already playing other counters and they are not here anymore. Likewise, I believe the 2 of you also no longer own any shares in this counter. If you seek their professional advice and teachings, or even to repay your gratitude to them, please look for them in some other forums and I am sure you will be able to find them. In the event of not able to, you can even PM to them here at ShareJunction and definitely, they would be happy to reply you.  Lastly, I like to treat everyone here as mature adults with intelligence who can think and act like one. Please do not make me feel otherwise. Thanks. Cheers and have a good evening!! Smiley

How has he lost his credibility? Just because the price has dipped the past few days? Don't forget, not everyone has the same time horizon as you do. Some people trade, others invest. There's nothing wrong with either just don't forget that being right in the long term may sometimes mean being wrong in the short term.

If you mention about my earlier post which was on Friday, I have already apologized but if you like to indulge in the hobby of nitpicking, I shall just let you have your way. And if I am not wrong, you told me before you have sold your shares and therefore, I assume your intention here is solely to pay gratitude to your sifu. I am pretty touched by your strong student-sifu bonding and which is precisely why, out of goodwill, I suggest there are other channels for you to do so. I hope that's credible enough. I can explain again if you do not get what I mean. Sorry and thanks..

hmm...by asking forumers to stay vested instead of selling or cutting lost in one of your comments below, you had lost your credibility  Smiley

SJ-stomper I think yöu learn the wrong things. You may lost less money wise but actually lost a lot more in term of your share market temperament. Price and value are like a dog leashed to the owner. Value is the owner and price is the dog. No matter how far the dog run it will come back to the owner, eventually.

Learn to stay calm and collected is more important than learning to time the market. Buy the owner and not the dog-that is the true lesson in share investment.

@sifu SJ-Stomper*  Thank you for your understanding and correct perception.

It reminds me of a HK movie in which a good-hearted trainer looked after a group of young recruits. Because of his harsh and sometimes mocking approach, the recruits hated him in the beginning buit ended up to be thankful to him in the end, but not before.

Stocks is a somewhat similar situation. It is a truly a battlefield.

I will not post more, but for newbies' greater insight, please get hold of Jesse Livermore's books and digest them, and also some stock market " battle" books.

*PS. It's really heartening to see at least one who is appreciative.

Dear friends, Those who are in this forum long enough, know who is "student". Pls dont "chase" him away. It is good for him to inject some negetive posts as people might get too bulish about the market. At contel thread had one newbie just listen to the buy call, now he has lost a lot of money. I hope his wife has forgiven him.

@student, continue to post what you think will be benefited to the forumers. Just do as a human duty not "hai lang" your kuan ing mah will know.

I wish everyone has a happy trading day! Happy happy go lucky!

the rest of fincantieri is private, VARD sticks out like a sore thumb.

you spend $650M+ on a company only for it to pay 40-75% of yearly profits to public shareholders? they would swallow the other 44% any time of the day!

riding the weak season for stocks, i am sure got people behind pushing it down further. Its a very unfortunate stock, lots of potential but odds are stacked against the public. Since April so many signs of 'creeping takeover'.... not vested
