It's obvious Singaporean consumers get the short end of the deal.  Countries with bigger audience pay less.  Why? Because Singtel screwed up with EPL.  Starhub screwed up with EPL at the previous round with higher tender and get non-soccer fans to cross subsidise EPL by selling sports channel as a package with double the subscription.  The media authorities screwed up with hands off policy (until recently), just like MAS.  Consumers now have to pay 7 times more than the previous world cup!  Mr Ying of Singtel, just like his Singapore boss is living in ivory towers.  There are consequences.  Now content sellers are going to quote special prices only for Singapore because of this precedent.  We have shown that even if they squeeze us with sky high prizes, way above our neighbours or HK, Singaporeans will cave in! Ultimately the costs will be passed on to consumers.  When will Singporeans stand up and say enough is enough?  Let the silly telcos bleed red ink so that EPL,FIFA and others will not look at Singapore as easy meat to be held to ransom.   After all there are other avenues to watch the matches through the internet, or Malaysian or Indonesian channels or can go to coffee shop which broadcasts the matches or share with friends to subscribe. I won't sign up even if I have to miss all the matches.
