China Wheel has agreed to supply aluminum wheels to Michelin's 300 TyrePlus centres in over 30 provinces in China. The agreement shows China Wheel has qualified as the top wheel producer in China. With the strategic alliance with Michelin and leveraging on the booming China's car market, China Wheel is able to expand its sales network, lift its retail sales and diversify its business risk by supplying more wheels to the top tyre supplier. Selling prices are expected to be maintained.

Aluminum price, which accounts for more than 70% of its total cost, has stabilised after a hike in early '06. As a result of the aggressive capacity expansion in China's alumina production (main source of aluminum), aluminium price is expected to dip 10% this year to Rmb18,500- 19,000 per tonne. In Jan-May '06, China's alumina capacity was ramped up by 50% yoy. Planned project capacity will reach 220m tonnes, of which 46m tonnes and 54m tonnes will be added in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

China Wheel's phase 1 expansion will come into commercial operation by end-Oct '06. The additional 1.2m wheels per year will bring its total capacity to 3.6m. The new capacity is expected to be fully utilised and will contribute to its FY07 earnings.

An attractive dividend payout of 30% can also be expected.
