you buy 1 lot = 1000 shares , say price yesterday 3.58, so you pay SGD 3580... dividend is 0.16 .... 1000 shares x 0.16 = SGD 160.

SGD 160/ SGD 3580.. your percentage is about 4.47% ... not too bad, but bear in mind, when it comes to Ex-date, the price usually corrected.... meaning, the share price will "drop quite substantially" to reflect the "fat dividend" payout, but if the stock is good and the overall market sentiment is good, it will back to the normal level easily and quickly...

well, I am on the queue today to buy 2 lots at 3.48.. don't think i will get it.. just queue it la.. the price is pretty dirt cheap in 52 weeks point of view + dividends.

ST Aerospace could be a better buy, as its 767-300 conversion project could last for yrs.

DBS Vickers raises SIA Engineering to Buy from Hold, nudges target price up to $4.49 from $4.48. Broker says stock looks attractive at current levels; "the recent weakness in SIA Engineering's share price represents an excellent opportunity for investors to accumulate shares in the counter." Says company is one of the safer proxies to the airline sector, provides stability, earnings visibility in volatile environment. Adds business model generates steady income stream while net cash pile, 5.3% dividend yield provide security.

hey maxliukt, apologies i don't have info on it, but tech-wise:

has been on TA downtrend since 8th feb. accumulation/dist actually constant, but other indicators (chaikin, RSI, williams) all down: quite heavily sold in past few weeks.

Support was actually at 4.5 but it just broke below that. dipped below its lower bollie so expect further downtrend. caution advised for this one.

CIMB-GK has increased its target price to $4.25 from $4.20, while keeping its "outperform" rating, after it upgraded its earnings estimates for the company.

"Raising earnings estimates for year to March 2007-2008 by 8.2% and 4.3% respectively, to reflect stronger contributions from associates and faster growth momentum from the fleet management business," CIMB-GK said in a note to clients.

The brokerage added it expects the company to add hanger capacity to cater to regional growth.

Goldman Sachs said it has started covering  with a  price target of $4.40 given the stock's attractive valuation.

"While we forecast earnings to grow at a solid CAGR of 13% over 2006 to 2009, we believe the stock's key attraction is its low valuation," Goldman Sachs said in a note to clients.

The research house said several factors such a possible divestment by parent Singapore Airlines, and news flow on heavy-maintenance contract wins, could drive up SIA Engineering's share price.

Other catalysts for further upside include higher dividends, given the firm's net cash position of $570m and strong free cash flow generation, and medium-term growth from its new Indian joint venture and from passenger to freighter conversions, it said.

Goldman Sachs expects SIA Engineering's net income to grow to $263.6m in the year to March 2007 from $230.4m this year, and then to $300.1m in the year to March 2008, and to $333.6m in the year to March 2009.

something is definitely happening. there's explosive price movement and strong RSI and Accumulation/Distribution uptrend.

However, its wierd that the volume traded is relatively low. this means that the uptrend will be hard to sustain becuase its going to be subject to volatility.

Yipppee.. SIA Engrg today rose by an impressive $0.28 to $3.96. Something is brewing in the kitchen and expect the price to rise further to above $4.00. It is paying a hefty dividend of $0.26 thanks to the solid performance last year. Wait for the RSI to rise and drop to 70 before taking profit.
