Resilient one. Even during a recession
Key word here is ?mature?. By and large, defensive companies tend to not only be mature but also operate in mature sectors. Consequently, they are unlikely to require lots of cash to grow.
The upshot is that defensive companies tend to pay out a significant chunk of their profits as dividends to shareholders.

As of 7 August 2013 (Source: SGX My Gateway and Writer?s input)
From 2008 to 2012, FTSE ST Health Care Index (SGX: FSTAS4000) has returned 35% more than Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI). Even though the FTSE ST Health Care Index does not include all of the  above stocks, it is a good representation of the quoted healthcare industry.
Someone who falls still sick has to go and visit a doctor. Unlike many  other industries,  healthcare  tends to satisfy  ?needs?  rather than  ?wants?.........

Well,    HMC  remained 7.9% shr in IHC belong to HMC players. HMC still hold 6.66% after the sales.
20,833,000 ordinary shares sold $10m worth of IHC share on 8 Jul at 48cts through married deal. This should enhance  HMC P& L by $10m.
Sale should be kept as special dividends for its shareholders. HMC share should move tomorrow. Recommeded Hold liao.
