Asia Power plans to buy China power plants
SINGAPORE - Singapore-listed Asia Power, which owns power plants in China, plans to expand by purchasing one to two plants every year, mostly through joint ventures, a company executive said. These plants would either be hydropower or wind power plants, and the acquisitions would take advantage of tax breaks offered as part of a drive by Chinese authorities to curb growing pollution, Asia Power's Vice President Tian Aimin said in an interview. Asia Power, founded in 1997, has snapped up stakes in eight plants across China - five hydropower plants and three coal-fired plants - taking its total generating capacity to 738 megawatts (MWs). Tian also said the company was in talks to buy two wind power plants in the provinces of Heilongjiang and Xinjiang and may conclude those deals by the end of this year. As Asia Power shifts its focus to renewable energy, Mr Tian said that the firm plans to sell two of its coal-fired power plants - potentially worth a total of 400 million yuan (US$52 million) - within the next two years. -- REUTERS REUTERS Reut 08:10 05-03-07

Yes... 2-4 years is what I see as definitely long term,
For long term investor only! Need to wait another 2 to 4 years to see the full impact of their recent effort to focus in HYDRO projects!
