M1 rev and profit  for the last few quarters have been flat actually.

All the 3 telcos suffer the common ailment:  rent and staff cost keep  going up, squeezing their margins.

. analysis are like weather forecast. sometimes accurate sometimes miss.

. in the case of M1, the fact is M1 has surged up about 20 cents after its result announcement.

. very obviously it is on the up trend.

. so kim eng is accurate and cimb, osk are not !!!

While kim eng is super bullish on M1, the other research houses issued either HOLD or NEUTRAL ratings.

M1: 1Q13 results in line downgrade to HOLD
M1 Ltd reported its 1Q13 revenue of S$243.0m (-7.4% YoY, -25.8% QoQ) which met just 21.3% of our full-year forecast, mainly due to lower handset sales and also the mix of handsets (Android now makes up > 50% of its postpaid subscriber base). Nevertheless, net profit grew 1.7% YoY and 8.2% QoQ to S$41.0m, meeting 26.5% of our FY13 forecast. It may have also gotten a one-off boost from recognizing the unused credit in expired pre-paid cards that were periodically terminated. While we are not making any chances to our FY13 estimates as 1Q13 results were largely in line, our DCF-based fair value improves to S$3.10 (from S$2.89) as we tweak our interest rate expectations slightly lower in view of the still sluggish global economic performance. But as there is now< 10% total return from here, we downgrade the stock to HOLD. (Carey Wong)

From MayBank-Kim Eng

M1: More Misses Than Hits Where It Matters Maintain HOLD, TP $2.65
M1 SP | Mkt Cap USD2.0b | ADTV USD2.3m

Ø M1 disappointed in 3Q12 due to elevated subscriber acquisition costs that kept margins in cooling-down mode. Margins have fallen for three consecutive quarters now and are at their lowest level yet.
Ø Even though we expect 4Q12 to recover on the back of greater 4G tiered plan takeup, we do not see any positive catalysts for FY13. Rising capex is the main problem, and will cap dividend upside.
Ø Nevertheless, M1 is likely to continue paying a good dividend in FY13, albeit flat vs FY11. Although M1 is no longer our top telco pick (gone in favour of StarHub), it is still a decent stock to hold on to for the dividend. It currently yields a supportive 5.5%.

You have a nice day.

All these brokers hv group mindset, has all along push down M1
But dun know why it keep moving up.

So the actual price is what matters.

To me the smallest telcos has the highest growth base.

Starhub n singtel already very clumsy in their movement.ie too fat to make big wave.

Wa nearly forgot I hold one section plus plus of M1.

Cheong until it is so hot.

Got dividends n capital gain.

Will keep till reach 3.55 since TA suggest a bull formation with solid base at 2.4-2.60.

Think their revenue will keep growing . Saw their fiber broadband selling much cheaper than singtel. This singtel package which I subscribe is like shit as the embedded mio tv really kns.

If reach 3.55 means almost double up when include dividends.

Maybe should replace penny stock with this mr M

I like M1, steady steady with its dividends , has tbe best potential growth base.

With IPTV coming in, more data plan will be the future reveune.

This is the future. But this stock is good for pple who prefers dividend vs fixed deposit.

Total dividend given is 7% for whole year..

victortan      ( Date: 25-Jan-2012 15:14) Posted:

I think telco will do badly in such environment. It is defensive.

ppl want to sell and put to riskier stock for capital gain.

so telco will be down likely.
