Myanmar awarded two telecom license to two foreign awardee  with no local participating  and

awardee need to pour several billion into building Myanmar telecom fragile  infrastructure.

With law and regulation still in it in-fancy stage. Give it a thought.

Singtel is trading quite high cos of the anticipation. This contract loss will nonetheless have some downside impact. Watch for the support levels for those thinking of going in. Vested.

Take a look at Thais telecom industries n one can hav an idea how it work.

Myanmar is one up and even more on nationa comel interest first.

IMHO, the outcome will not have too direct an impact on Singtel's performance.Investors need to think long term instead of a knee jerk reaction to the contract loss.

Because essentially, Singtel is not relying on the deal to drive or sustain its business performance.
It could have been an icing on the cake but on the other hand, it is risk mitigated. Singtel can perhaps focus on other sectors/countries now.

" Experts are quick to point out, however, that while the potential returns for the winners of Thursday's bid are staggering, so are the risks.Investors preparing to invest billions of dollars are rightly nervous about how political reform will evolve, whether the government can maintain the fragile peace between ethnic groups, and how regulation and ownership rights will develop. The government insists a new industry regulator will take over within the next few years, but the job is still effectively in the hands of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. A telecom bill to set the legal framework for the industry is stuck in parliament." Foreign companies " will be entering the market while the process is still taking place and major reforms are yet to happen," said Peter Evans, a senior analyst at the telecom research group, BuddComm.

It quite obvious. Yoma is just putting on a " telecom show" to lure unsuspecting BBs  and  retailer investors.

Till now, they the govt approval for the mega property project have yet to materialise...

Yoma would hav breed dry, rising money.  While singel with alot of cash may oso breed, so is both their local partners.

If ONI they win...lucky Bo tio ARGHHH.

For info . Telenor prices dropping on Norway bourse .   Mynamar has shifted goal posts .   Telenor will not know what they have gotten into until Telecoms   Act passed by parliament sometime in the future.

In other word. singTel got alot more cash to lookout for a more profitable venture.

Share holders should be happi and ensure every year got nice dividends to collect.

Pumping several billion of cash into....not knowing when can get back their return?. That why no myanmar tel Co is involve...till new law and regulation is pass.

Goal post is shifted, operator cannot score goal until then....

singsong      ( Date: 27-Jun-2013 20:24) Posted:

Knee-jerk reaction - price will drop. Thereafter when sanity returns and realisation that not getting the licence is a blessing in disguise, price will resume uptrend or at least stabilise.
