Hi all

I am newbie in investment world. I notice that the share price of Banyan Tree has dropped significantly. any fundamental analysis for such drop? I haven't got any news regarding the cause of such drop. Thanks

...hm...jackjames...from the looks of it, 1.65 may not hold (longterm)....wld expect a dead cat's bounce anytime soon tho...

coming near to support point at 1.63, if it breaks, it will be 1.3 level, a good level to cash in.

DBS Vickers - Banyan Tree Holdings Limited (BTH SP): Growing nicely Buy S$1.80; Price Target : S$ 2.68

Strong underlying earnings. Topline increased by 19% y-o-y to S$82.5m, due to positive growth from Hotel operations (+29%) and Hotel Management (+185%). Property sales were lower (-13%) due to BTH not booking property sales amounting S$30m in 3Q07. As construction progresses, we expect the revenue to be recognised over the coming periods. Operating profit registered a 17% growth to S$10.8m.

Net profit boosted by exceptional item of S$44.5m. Net profit before exceptionals was S$5.1m, a 36% increase y-o-y. The exceptional item pertains to the negative goodwill arising from the increase in effective interest in LRH from 51.8% to 67.8% following LRH rights issue in July ?07.

Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels, spas and galleries, announced its nine months result which show a 277% increase in profit after taxation to S$74.2 million on the back of a 22% increase in revenue to S$270.5 million, largely driven by its Hotel operations and a one-off negative goodwill exceptional gain arising from its subsidiary?s rights issue in July 2007.
