Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited
wishes to announce that its newly incorporated subsidiary, Mermaid Kencana Rig 1 Pte. Ltd., has on 19 October 2007 issued a letter of award and will be entering into a contract with Kencana HL Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kencana Petroleum Bhd. in Malaysia, for KNHL to design, construct, equip and deliver a newbuild tender rig for MKR1 for an aggregate sum of USD 136 million. The contract signing ceremony will be held on Monday, 22 October 2007 in Malaysia.
It should be good news by seeing the new below..... but given a great power slam by D.J yesterday night, what upside it still holds on monday to come? hope it stays afloat above $2.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 - Malaysian energy services firm Kencana Petroleum has won a contract worth $136 million from Singapore's Mermaid Kencana Rig 1 Pte Ltd to build a tender rig, Kencana Petroleum said on Friday.
The contract also includes options by Mermaid Kencana to order up to three additional rigs from Kencana Petroleum, it said in a statement.
In a separate statement, Kencana Petroleum said it and Mermaid Drilling Pte Ltd, a unit of Thai oil-rig firm Mermaid Maritime Public Co Ltd , had agreed to set up a venture, Mermaid Kencana, to offer drilling services in the offshore oil and gas industry.
Kencana Petroleum will subscribe for 25 percent of the equity in Mermaid Kencana, it said, adding that a shareholders' agreement would be signed in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Mermaid Maritime, whose shares started trade on Singapore stock exchange on Tuesday, has two oil rigs and four owned and two chartered engineering vessels.
The company, which sold 140 million new shares in its initial public offering, said proceeds from the share sale would pay for the construction of two more oil rigs and a vessel.
Shares in Kencana Petroleum closed unchanged at 2.70 ringgit on Friday. Mermaid Maritime shares ended up 1.4 percent at S$2.19.

this stock should be on the radar.... company announced big shot investors quek leng chan and mokzani mahathir bought significant stakes in mermaid from ipo.
based on today's closed price of $1.95, market cap already above one billion dollars, bound to attract institutional plays soon.
bull still has leg left... lets prosper together.... but trade cautiously...

Thai oil-rig firm Mermaid gains 15% in Singapore debut
Oct 16 (Reuters) - Shares of Thai oil-rig firm Mermaid Maritime Public Co
started trade on Tuesday at S$1.80 in their S$218 million ($149 million) listing, 15.4 percent above the S$1.56 issue price.
The company said in a statement that the initial public offering of 140 million new shares was 24 times subscribed.

, has a fleet of two oil rigs, and four owned and two chartered engineering vessels.

Macquarie Securities was the global coordinator, bookrunner, underwriter and issue manager for the share offer, while BNP Paribas Capital (Singapore) and DBS Bank were co-lead managers and underwriters for the deal.
Those who had gambled on it won big!!!
