Hi Ipunter, you sound like a maths grad. "random walk"

Fung Choi displayed some random walk characteristics in the chart in the past couple of weeks... it throws the technicians out of balance... seems like it doesn't like to be analysed... :)

rather disappointed at the slow pace of fung choi. Did not run much during the last few days of frenzy trading. However, I like the strong fundaments of the company, & confident it can deliver a strong set of results this year. Let's wait for re-rating!

I suspect it may have something to do with year-end portfolio adjustment or something of that nature... I would reckon if the big boys are not obliging them, nothing will come out of it.

As a matter of principle, I always prefer moderate price rises with large volumes to huge price rises with small volumes.

Large volumes indicate interest (either buying or selling interest) and therefore implies sustained trending.

Hi hipoo,

If you look at its volume chart in the past 2-3 months, you'll see that during the weeks when this stock was bullish, the volume was at least 14 million. There was even 1 day when the volume was 24 million. And in those high volume days, the price was was moderate and sustained over the week. That's healthy.

For this price spike yesterday, the 9million volume isn't too spectacular in comparison. Therefore, the large price increase didn't have the huge volumes to back it up. That was why I felt that its not sustainable.

HI Singaporegal,

When u mention about phenomenal volumes, is 9million vol compare to its normal of 1-3milliion ave, isn't it phenomenal? Can u advise? Thanks!

Ya, I agree with that too...

Quite a tricky situation, this one...andt volume is nothing spectacular... 9million on the up-spike compared with previously 14m and 24m. Very likely to back down and resume downtrand, especially if it receives some coaxing from a bad Dow day tonight.

Be cautious... the rise in stock prices isn't really supported by phenomenal volumes.
