I recall that there was an article quite sometimes back on the Straits Times pointing out that " If someone had invested just $10K on Raffles Education's (RE) shares more then 10 years back and hold it over the years. (RE was a penny share of just few cents went it was not yet successful). It could have made the holders a MILLIONAIRE today ( during the time/year of that article, years back and RE's share was at more then $2 and hit $3 at during that time of the article).
That article made people aware of RE's potential, and many went on it and interest caught on .............. and it went through vast expansion, split their share.......etc etc.. every thing was smooth sailing till the moment they bought a big campus in China...... still reporting growing profits.......went into India, Vietnam etc etc ....
Think its still giving interim dividends when ever possible.... until recently, not everything is smooth sailing.. RE is still one of the astounding success story..now.... but analysis is not saying many favorable things about it now, unlike before..
If want to compare both.
Informatics was much more established their infamous financial reporting scandal years back crippled them.
When Informatics was king of the education market, RE was hardly heard or exist.
Informatics was the fallen GEM. If you traced back the value of their share then, it hit above $2 and was quite hot then.
But after the scandal broke, all became history. They struggled in dark days that follows. Sold lots of their assets.
RE have their own history of rise like the phoenix and along its growth, it had its share of problem while expanding.............
RE, succeeded due to the vacuum left by Informatics' fall from grace then. It expanded vigorously. They hit some snag.
But, the ultimate measurement of success is the consistency of "profit ". If profits slowed, investors run for greener pasture. Thats natural.
Going back to the question of who is bigger now ?
RE should have bigger assets. They own big campus in China. Establish their names in India etc etc.
They are competitors. Won't be surprise if both collaborate and compliment each other in future instead of compete with one another in future.
RE was the rise of the phoenix, Informatics could be that awakening dragon.
Asset wise I think it have to be RE. Future, no one really knows and wait to be seen.
If they want to conquer the world and compete directly with the world, If they were to merge in future. They can both be much stronger. :)
Financially, its not fair to compare as Informatics was the fallen one that went through bad patches, their wealth was effected and drained during the early days that follows their historic unfortunate saga.
Whats important is how the current management will grow their business...........their goals.
For Informatics , it could be the beginning of a new era. Once they got the funds, they will probably make known their future direction and plan. They will be in the news. :). Thats will be what keep investors keen and money poured in for growth plan.
Which is stronger. I think at this moment it have to be RE :)
The above are my personal view nia. I might not be very accurate.
Others may know much more then me.
Just to share, since you asked. :)
Cheers.

I remember when looking back, it went up and hit 10 cents after a long long stagnant period.
Then it all falls back to 4.5 cents.
It was n't ready then. Lets hope this time, its sustainable and not like the case around 2007/july. Thats about 3 years back.
There was false hope and news paper came out an article during that time..............."Informatics is NOT YET out of the wood".
It was still making looses every quarter.................then in the pre-2007 days when the scandal was still afresh.
Today, (since late 2008) it has been seeing profit quarter after quarter............
With the condition matured, and new interest in carry informatics to higher ground, lets hope this time, this is it..............move forward, expand, compete for intakes........set up overseas university, initiate innovation in education....... bring in foreign students........expand your facilities....... buy assets, built wealth.........way to go.........
Lets hope this time, its really out of the wood and not a sunshine and rain...............later........
Its sunshine after the RAIN, the rainy days are over.......... :)
After all, informatics is an establish brand name in education worldwide. It can built on it.......grow, co-operate, liaise ventures with foreign university, make it stronger by days......... return to former glory when it command a share price worth $2++ per share......
Cheers.

money making Education Giant company

Unlikely.
Don't pin hopes on informatics, TMC or the likes to be the 4th university.
Most likely, a new university with different branding, like SMU.
any likelihood for divident payout or they
still in the red?
