News Release

GateHouse BGAN Customer Achieves Inmarsat Type Approval

The Singapore-based satellite terminal manufacturer, Addvalue Communications Pte Ltd,

is the second of GateHouse?s BGAN protocol stack customers to achieve Inmarsat?s

Type Approval

In developing BGAN user terminals for the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), Addvalue makes use of the GateHouse BGAN protocol stack. Following Addvalue?s contract with Inmarsat to develop a class 3 BGAN user terminal, GateHouse and Addvalue have integrated and tested the protocol stack on Addvalue?s user terminal, Wideye Sabre 1.

Recently, the terminal has achieved the Inmarsat Type Approval and is now available on the market.

Business Unit Director Claus Krohn Vesterholt states: ?The Addvalue BGAN terminal, Wideye Sabre 1, is a significant product for the BGAN market. It is the most cost effective BGAN terminal seen so far and yet able to provide IP data transfer rates up to 384 kbps. With this terminal Addvalue and GateHouse have proven that the BGAN technology can be integrated into a compact product and provide BGAN users with a cost-efficient satellite communication capability supported by a wide range of Addvalue?s accessories to enhance users? experience.

As the only independent provider of software for Inmarsat?s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) satellite terminals, GateHouse has achieved a central role in the market for satellite communications. The Type Approvals for two of our clients ? first Hughes Network Systems and now Addvalue ? confirm our unique position in the market.?

Takes First Step Into the Middle East

Appoints master distributor for Middle East and Africa
Addvalue has appointed XSAT as master distributor for its Sabre 1 BGAN terminal in the Middle East and Africa. XSAT is a telecommunications solutions provider based in the United Arab Emirates, currently providing satellite solutions from Thuraya and Iridium. XSAT will offer Addvalue?s product to its user base as well as promote it to other Inmarsat distributors in the region. In addition, XSAT will provide after-sales and technical support.

Substantial incentive to push Addvalue product
XSAT has committed to buying 300-350 units at US$1,500 per unit from Addvalue initially. However, if XSAT can meet annual sales targets of 2,000-3,000 units, it will receive manufacturer?s rebates of US$250 per unit. This gives it significant incentive to market the Sabre 1 aggressively across the Middle East and Africa.

Deal already factored into forecasts
We are not moving our forecasts based on this announcement, as we have already factored in potential volume from the Middle East. We had previously mentioned that Addvalue was in the process of appointing authorised distributors in the Middle East as well as countries such as India, North Asia (in places such as Mongolia) and China.

But there could be further dealflows
However, the Middle East could prove to be further fertile ground for distribution deals for its land mobile terminal, given the ample need in the field for reliable communications in the largely barren but economically important region. Also, we believe it is likely that Addvalue is in the process of concluding development and supply deals for the upcoming maritime terminal, the value of which could be quite substantial.

Other positive updates from management
First, Telenor is being upsold to a higher price point. As it is a strategic partner with much larger order commitments, Addvalue gives it a lower price than other customers. However, in its most recent order, Telenor has agreed to pay a slightly higher price (up to 10% higher, mainly due to the inclusion of an upgraded handset). Second, management currently expects monthly terminal shipments to exceed 1,000 units a month by Oct.
