SINGAPORE (Thomson Financial) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) said Monday it will book an exceptional loss of 96 million Singapore dollars from its deal with Taiwanese mobile phone operator Far EasTone Telecommunications Co Ltd
Under the deal, which was first announced in August, SingTel swapped its 24.5 percent stake in New Century InfoComm Tech Co Ltd (NCIC), a loss-making fixed-line phone company in Taiwan, for a 3.97 percent stake in Far EasTone The deal was completed today Based on last Friday's closing price, the value of SingTel's stake in Far EasTone is about 6.6 million New Taiwan dollar, or approximately 294 million Singapore dollars, less than the 390-million dollar carrying value of SingTel's NCIC shares The loss will be booked as an exceptional item in its third quarter to December results, said SingTel But the loss will be offset by a 118-million Singapore dollar currency translation gain that SingTel will also book in the same quarter The gain arose from the reduction of SingTel Australia Investment Ltd's Australian dollar-denominated share capital, it said. SingTel Australia is a wholly-owned subsidiary that holds the entire stake in Australian telecommunication company Optus |

Hi all, I am newbie to SGX. I am doing a small research on Singtel by getting basic infos. One thing that I am looking for is Singtel shares outstanding. As said in the annual report, up to end of June 07, the total number of shares is around 15,9bil. I donīt know if Singtel issues any more shares during last months ?
Any one could help me. Thanks in advance.
i thnk now the price high to go in for the dividend.
Think next week this counter may fall after the Ex-date for the dividend ba...
small player so cant afford to put my money here for too long haha

Hi Mr Tiandi,
Thank you~!

zhenxian,
oh yes, 16 falls on Sunday, so today is last day of CD.. thanks
next Monday you will see XD on Singtel ..
good luck
Hi Mr Tiandi~
Thanks alot~!!
so today is the last day to buy in already right?
zhenxian
I think you may be mixing up Ex-date and Record Date.
lets see the announcement again below: Ex Date is 17 Dec, thus, CUM-Div (CD) date is 16 Dec.
If you WANT the dividend , and you do not have the share yet, you must BUY during CD period, which end on 16 Dec.
if you already have Singtel shares, you must HOLD until end of 16 Dec, so that you are entitled the Dividend.
hope this helps

Hi,
According to the announcement from SGX below the last day for the Dividend is on the 19 Dec 2007 before 5pm right?
Does this means that as long as i bought Singtel shares before the above mentioned date i will be entitled to the dividends? (Be it contra or not??)
Of course i must also keep the lots till 20 dec 2007 to have the effect right?
Thanks in advance~!

Don't touch SingTel at this moment as Temasek Holding is currently appearing Indon for sueing TM contravience into the benifit of both Telco in Indon. If SingTel lost the appeal in Indon local court, there would be substantial influence in the ST price. Hence, step behind and watch. Cheers
