China Kangda Food (CKANG SP /
CKFC.SI, OUTPERFORM, S$0.51, Target: S$0.72)
Initiating coverage - Proxy for China's increasingly urbanised eating
habits
by Kerryn Tay

China Kangda is well positioned to benefit from China's increasing
urbanisation that feeds the consumption of instant and processed foods. It
has over 150 varieties of processed foods products and is the largest
Chinese rabbit meat exporter to European Union, which we believe will
continue to see strong growth as current export levels are well below
historical average. We are pitching KD at 12x CY07 P/E, at a premium to
Singapore sector peers of 10.3x CY07 multiple in view of its good exposure
to both China and exports, as well as its diversified revenue base. We
however peg it at a discount to Synear, its closest peer, as we see risks
from its short forward earnings visibility. We initiate coverage with an
OUTPERFORM and target price of S$0.72.

Tks Compass for your input. Agree that "money is the root of all evils". I did not mean to condemn all China companies.  My point was the relative ease and speed at which China companies fall prey to mismanagement or report losses not long after being listed.  Hope the relevant authorities will act swiftly to tighten listing regulations before more Singaporeans lose their hard-earned savings investing in  such "dud" companies.

hikitty , u hv post this China Food on the wrong corner! I think many things will happen once there is a change of management. This one got away until QAF took control. Not all china companies are the same. We cannot just condemned China ones, just look at our homeland eg ACCS and Citiraya. Money knows no colour of skin, religions, territories, etc. Just Greed of  the Humans.

China Food Industries seems to be another CAO fiasco. What's next after Bio-treat?   How 2 think "long term" when investing in China shares?  Someone must be held responsible for not conducting due diligence checks on such firms - our Singapore govt must act b4 someone ends his life after losing millions by investing in such firms..  The penalties for such offences shd be enhanced.  It seems our S'pore prison is far too comfortable for such white collar criminals.     What is losing a few years of freedom by being imprisoned - no big deal, when the criminal may still have the money after causing a listed firm to go bust!

As a result of the appointment, the group will also be given priority by the relevant government agencies to set up new retail outlets or distribution channels in various supermarkets in China, without having to undergo additional inspections.

"We believe that our participation in this event will provide us with a platform to further develop our brand visibility and awareness for our products," China Kangda chief executive Gao Yanxu said in a statement.

Among the new china ipos this one is baffling ie it keeps getting lower and lower. I can only say that they are unlucky to appoint cimb-gk to do the deal as that house is never strong in ipos listings. If this is done by the top 2 houses you can expect it to fly to be inline with the other food mfg ones. Really undervalue. Read somewhere  that says the house is clearing. Falling knife very dangerous to catch.
