dear Shplayer sir, sorry, I missed your query "Hey, whilst I am not an ardent bird watcher, I have some friends who are.......have been with them to Fraser's Hill to do some bird watching and jungle trekking.......FH is fantastic for bird (the feathered kind) watching. You been there?

No I am not really into doing serious bird watching... just that I like photography and felt to do something with it like taking pictures of birds in Singapore... perhaps I would become really interested in them when I photograph them enough..  yes I have been to FH, but more for cool air but now as you have reminded me perhaps I could make a trip there later when I can.. as it is there are many interesting birds in Singapore..as besides the resident ones, Singapore is on the migratory path of birds from northern asia..  At the moment I am quite keen to photograph the Chinese Egret.. do you know it is a very rare bird now, only about 2,000 of them left globally but it comes to Singapore (sungei buloh reserve) to escape the winter in Northern China, Korea & Japan.. it is a very elegant bird.. here is a pic

BaseerAhmed...

Maybe you can buy the DVD set for "The Romance of 3 Kingdoms" and watch the entire series episode at your own time.

This will certainly help to make the experience more memorable... :)

my dear Baseerahmed (you can ask your secretary to do that), meanwhile I suggest you borrow the book from NLB.. Romance of three kingdom by Luo Guanzhong for the moment..

Asterisk, in my opinion, you have EQ and that is what count in the University of Life... and I note you mention you are potentially second class upper student so just abit more leh you get first class.. just stay focused and dont get distracted when exam is near...Yoda

chinkiasu,

I share your sentiments about PY too......not so much for the recent and past publicity.....but for other things he did which will be unwise to write about publicly in SJ. ....will tell you about it when we have a chance to meet.

eek. sj is still funny. gonna log off now.

chinkiasu, no prob lah. but yea. i can't and won't talk anymore abt work. it's too dangerous.

act, i agree with you abt PY: that he did think what he did was the best for astar. also think he was right to sue the blogger: what that blogger said was truly slander: you simply shdn't allege such corruption. esp since it's a national insitution you're talking abt. i mean, even if i don't like the guy, i won't say things without proof.

not to mention such things are tricky things. there are deals that have to be done, but yea. not overtly.

Baseerahmad, think SJ is doing something to their server.. ?  I cannot answer your question as you did not answer mine.....

Asterisk, in my mind, I think you are potential scholar alpha plus guy... what ever ppl say... I am encouraged we have a young generation with thinking like yours..., personally, I am abit worried if I go to someones room and it is very neat...

elfinchilde.. sorry, noted your concerns.. no offense meant.... Image  will try to remember not to joke about your job...Begging

eastonbay & Shplayer, I actually personally dont like PY.  I think he is quite an egoist, even arrogant and have overstepped himself forgot that he is a civil SERVANT..  ... but recently I think he is feeling quite led down cos asked to leave A*STAR... however I think he did tried his best and thot the things he did for A*STAR is good for Singapore (my personal view.)

is is just me, or is SJ acting funny? i had this blinky thing going on, lights flashing and couldn't post. thought comp kena virus....eek.

asterisk! keep the adoption plan in mind. hehe. a kid bro. i'm gonna call you kid or sundance. ahaha. and again, pls note that elfin adoptions are standalone and come without the rest of the family/pets. won't ya say you're more you as you are to yourself on SJ, than in real life? oksssss kid,....let's start with stocks 101:

Give me your call on HPL. Tech wise, and more importantly, figure out the reason behind its movement. (reason = FA or psychological). hehe.

lemme know what techs you're familiar with or not.

and haha. what capital you starting with, if you don't mind saying? let's set you a target. gotta focus/incentivise this distracted little bro. keke. hm...ok. thus far this year, elf has hit ~20% returns on initial capital. i'll go easy on you: Make this return for this year. Up to the challenge? if not you ain't worthy to be my kid bro. muah haha.

keke. eastonbay, agree wtih you and shplayer abt SCI and SIA etc...Smiley

and yea. the trouble with civil servants, esp the high flyers is that they've never been in the outside world....even corporate exposure for them amounts to them simply being the 'top management' during their stint there. and that, it's an iron rice bowl. They're selected at 18 (actually even younger: they're eyed at 14), told they're the best, enter ministries with the title of Assistant Director. How to expect a leadership that relates the ground then? Smiley

and keke. ever realised: it's only the GLCs that want them as their heads? never heard of a real private firm that was keen on hiring ex-high fliers...Smiley

seriously, it worries me tho. how can a govt lead if it does not know its people? Smiley

and to all our NS men and boys out there. elf apologises yea. don't mean to cast any aspersions on you guys. this whole thing started out 'cos of an innocuous comment anw. dun wish to drag it any further. esp due to job sensitivities. here's one for the boys: Smiley

and sigh. salary. i dun wanna go there again man. all i know is this elf is investing like siao to reach financial indep.  Smiley

oh man, i like this little guy. relates to me very well. keke.: Smiley

SJ has emoticons! wheeeee!!! eheh kee jang, hows about a puppy for the elf? Smiley keke.

Scotty,

I don't envy Tankie......3 man to a tank....very siong when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.....even officers have to be involved.....get mud and grease all over.

AI....officers do 'admin' work (i.e. hang around in the mess drinking dutyfree beer and talk cock) during cleaning and maintenance.

My appointment was Coy 2I/C......during assault, 2I/C is commander of fire support base.......no need to dismount.......very senang....just practice giving fire orders over the radio....exercise controllers all focus on attack force.......no controllers at fire base location....so just make sure fire orders over the radio sounds concise and authoritative, and make sure gunners make alot of noise. But, when its live firing, then got to be very alert........follow fire plan precisely.......lives at stake.
