Sorry dear comrade, just woke up only, ha ha, last nite, had too much beer with kakis at kopitiam.
Two types of shorting, empty short n technical short:
Empty short: u dun hold any stock at CDP, but u short that stock, u ought to either sell/force sell or buy back that stock before 17.06 hrs that trading day, d pre-close routine, SGX.
Technical short: Says, u hv 10 lots of a particular stock registered at CDP. Now, u intended to short 10 lots of d same stock in open market, and by end of that trading day, d shorted px dun drop, u hv two option.
1. abide the empty short method, pay money only.
2. Just ignore it, as since you aldy hv that 10 lots same stock in hand, then consider it sold legally loh. Making profit or not, thats another issue liao.

Oh, alamah, no one help u ah? AK just back fr happy hr, blood still got beer smell. See can answer u well, before u taking action on last trading day trmo?
There r 2 scenarios on pre marke open Qing, Q buy n Q sell. Can do it a day before fr trading day, after market close, or even over Sat or Sun or public holiday.
Q buy: Says, u q at 1.26 to buy a stock a nite before next trading day, n happen that some one also q to sell at 1.25 before the next trading day, if both orders reach SGX next trading day, then seller would hv advantage of getting a cent more loh.
On the other hand, if u q to sell a stock at 1.26 before trade, n other also q at buy at 1.27 or even higher, then if SGX opens with only buyer at 1.27, then your sell px would be 1.27 or even higher if your lots were not completer eaten completely. |
