SINGAPORE

The amount, which included a fatter bonus of S$2.95 million, is higher than S$4.15 million she earned the year before.

The pay rise comes amid 7 per cent revenue growth to S$18.07 billion, although SingTel earned a net profit of S$3.83 billion that was 2 per cent lower than in the previous year.

Besides Ms Chua, most of SingTel’s top echelon also received pay rises.

Mr Allen Lew, SingTel’s Singapore CEO, earned S$3.19 million, up from S$2.88 million the year before. Mr Paul O’Sullivan, CEO of Australian subsidiary Optus, received S$3.95 million, up from S$3.48 million.

Optus, Australia’s No 2 telco after Telstra, posted a 15-per-cent growth in net profit to A$776 million (S$1 billion) for the year ended March 31. The higher profit came on the back of a 3.7-per-cent rise in revenue to A$9.28 billion.

In the annual report, SingTel chairman Chumpol NaLamlieng said the group crossed the 400 million mobile customer mark, with the inclusion of Bharti’s African operations.

Meanwhile, Ms Chua said in the annual report that SingTel is “at the crossroads of industry changes”.

“Industry value is shifting towards mobile devices, content, applications and services while prices and margins of traditional access services are declining,” said Ms Chua.

To counter this trend, the company needs to “creatively manage the returns from our access business to afford continual investments in our mobile and data networks”, she said.— Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) — the largest listed company in the country — paid its group chief executive Chua Sock Koong S$4.5 million for the financial year ended March 31, according to its annual report released yesterday.

On Thursday, Singtel re-test the resistance at $3.11 and closed at $3.10 with regular volume of 22.36 million shares traded.

A white candle sticks with long upper/lower shadow affirms that investors are hesitant in buying up as it approaches the resistance at $3.11.

Both RSI & MACD are bullish as RSI trend upwards.

aiyo ... actually i hv no time to play in stock market.

After all, i'm just a small investor and how much can i lost when i 'invest' in stock like SingTel?  I lost money before but who don't, and i also lucky enough to make some profit. 

Talking about style,  mine is slow and boring ... give you en example, i bought Starhub and collected my dividend twice and lucky enough to sell the shares with profit.  I will collect the same share again in the future but no hurry.  See ... boring right?

I dun appreciate  share merket excitement ... not now and not at my age.

Someone taught you when to buy ??

Crude but it is correct for Singtel only.....I also started buying some on Friday and Monday.

Got 19 cts warranty, a fairly priced blue chip.......you may ever got time to do some trading before collecting the DIV.........

 

Also look at Captialand man........it is about time....

SINGAPORE, June 21 (Reuters) - Singapore Telecommunications aims to raise the revenue contribution from multimedia as well as information and communication technology (ICT) services to its Singapore business to nearly 50 percent in three to five years from around 25 percent currently. SingTel Singapore CEO Allen Lew told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday that the company will launch the fourth-generation (4G) mobile network services later this year by deploying 200 base stations. " Today multimedia and ICT contributes roughly about 25 percent to our overall revenue in the Singapore business.

Our goal is to get that closer to 50 percent over the next 3-5 years," Lew said. SingTel and other telecom firms are trying to take advantage of the nationwide ultra-high speed broadband that was launched last year. " With NBN (Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network), it transforms SingTel from being just a pure telco to a multimedia provider for homes and consumer customers and to be a ICT solutions provider for businesses," Lew added.

He also said SingTel has developed a video search engine that allows customers to trawl through global websites and retrieve videos. The company has also launched a gaming service which enables users to play high-definition games on their personal computers or laptops, and has plans to provide even more services such as home security. The NBN aims to provide a nationwide ultra-high speed broadband access of 1 Gbps and more to locations such as homes, schools and businesses, according to the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).

Singtel: Daiwa maintains O/w and believe the share price will rise in absolute terms over the next 60 days. Note that stock has traded off recently, making short term valuation much more compelling. Stock's discount relative to NAV has widened to more than 16% in the last 3 wks from close to 11% previously. See room for this valuation gap to narrow in the coming weeks.
