S&P revises outlook on CapitaLand to negative, it also withdraws unsolicited rating

By KALPANA RASHIWALA

Standard & Poor's on March 3 revised its outlook on the BBB+ long-term unsolicited corporate credit rating on Singapore-listed property giant CapitaLand to negative from stable. At the same time, the rating on CapitaLand was affirmed before being withdrawn, S&P said in a release issued on Tuesday.

S&P said that without full interaction of the company in the rating process, it is no longer able to provide an informed credit opinion based on publicly available information.

'Under the current volatile environment, a comprehensive understanding of the company's strategic and commercial response to the slowdown in the residential and commercial property business in its core markets is an important credit consideration,' S&P said.

Sorry, I meant if buyers are to acc ds before end ds week 6 Mar for long term investment, fine. If it is being act as a tool for the BBs to scoup $, then d small retailer who were following d buy up may kena if BBs no intention to hold d bulk of cheap lots purchased over the pass few days, and down load to make profit.

Today is the day it did break through the floor of 1.88 and went as low as 1.76 before closing at 1.80.

It may be unlikely to go back up above 1.88.

I would say technically speaking, there's a big probabilty of it falling even more badly tomorrow and thereafter, depending on big brother Dow's form tonight and the days/weeks to come... Smiley

If it breaks through 1.88 next week, , hell may break lose (ie. more dumping) after that!... Smiley

In a market carnage like this present one, book value may be only an academic item for die-hard fundamentalist...

At such times, it is not unusual for shares to trade below book value...

Also, as long as uncertainty reigns supreme, real book value may beome lowered too...    Smiley

Izzit worth buying the Rights now ? $1.30 and two Rights for one share .... apparently the share px is $1.80, it might go lower in new futures .... maybe buy the shares is cheaper than buying the Rights at the moment ......... any comments from any "Sifu" here ??????

CapitaLand tumbles 10% amid rights call

Shares of CapitaLand, Southeast Asia's biggest developer, fell as much as 10% today as investors sought to limit their overall exposure to the firm before the issue of new rights shares, reported Reuters.

CapitaLand is in the process of issuing one new share for every two existing shares as part of a rights issue to raise $1.84 billion that was announced last month.

A trader said some investors who held on to their shares when the rights was announced were now selling the stock to offset the cash outlay needed to subscribe for the new shares.

The selling was exacerbated by short-selling on the part of hedge fund managers, he said.

By 4pm, CapitaLand was down 9.1% at $1.80, performing worse than the benchmark Straits Times Index which fell 3.3%.
