CU chinkiasu.
wow, chinkiasu, you really lead a jet setting life. More importantly, to many exciting places. No wonder you can write such good travelogue. BTW, you missed out this post in "how much do you need for retirement" that was meant for you. Initially didn't want to post it here to avoid being a little 'showoff-ish'. Since you are going off again, I copy it here.
Vielen Dank.

I went up to Genting last year for 3 days. The place now becomes too commercialise and the food at the food court is very expensive.
Due to global warming or what, the weather is no longer cool as it used to be.
Hi Fairygal,
Crete sounds good. That's the stuff of legends. The Minotaur! BTW, did you go to Santorini islands?
Just got back from my short break abroad .... really tired now and tommorow still need to go to work... argh..... going to sleep... nites!

all my bags are packed, I ready to go.....

on the road again... next stop Johannesburg...

j3r0m3, thanks, i try to write more detail so everyone can understand. i never been to europe before, but i got friends backpacking there, spending less than SG$5K for 3 to 4 weeks there (don't know how they did it). Everything is in budget n they do not stay in good expensive hotels.
pikachu, u must be refering to the first world hotel in Genting ah. i heard if u stay in standard rooms, it is kinda of bad. But if u stay in Deluxe room it is still okie. The new deluxe rooms in tower 2 are still fine. i been there last Nov too.
thanks for the welcome greeting from chinkiasu n geojam too.
chinkiasu, i am also reading the global warning news in straits times yesterday, sounds kinda of bad.

The other popular destination for gamblers (maybe our dear friend iPunter) is Genting. I was there about 3-4 years ago and the hotel rooms there really suck... horrible conditions. Like staying in a factory. |
Pikachu...
What makea you think I am a 'gambler'? If that's the impression you have of me, I am so sorry about it...
(this reminds me of the post in another thread by someone about "Africans being the happiest people, etc"... that's pure speculation )...
S'poregal,
Greece is great! Very interesting culture, history, architecture, myths, and food! I like Crete very much, and would love to go back there again. Very easy to get around even tho language is Greek.
reading yesterday's paper on Global warming sets me thinking... perhaps I should tone down on my jet travels... but then if I dont see the sights now, the ice caps are all melting away, and so also the permafrost in tibet would thaw and the roof top train cannot function... what to do??
chinkiasu :
Oh dear ! Looks like u have to read Livermore's earlier posting ! hahaha !
I will definitely watch your travelogue if it is aired on our TV just like Planet Earth ! Why else are we paying TV licence for but to pay people like u ! Imagine the world wide potential !
Like they say, if your hobby is ur work, then you don't have to work !
No, I am not conversant in that language. No, I don't come from that area too.
No, it's not ur fault either ! hahaha !

Hi there all,
been too busy to even pop in to look see look see...
have been just reading around and not really posting, but now decided to take a breather by posting. =)
Fortunegal, you should consider writing for a travel magazine. Your article made me want to hop on to Golden Mile and book a trip there. I have been to Cameron when i was real young, so i don't really remember a thing, but from your few pics and description, it sure seems like a cheap (with respect to other tours) and good getaway.
Maybe you can enlighten me on Europe (the secret gem to visit, the tourist road less travelled).
sorry posting below should be in SPC thread.. apologies, very sleepy..
ok, Baseerahmed, bahut shukria : ps am I using the right language with you? but, I think I will go bankrupt if only Ipunter buys... I note even you did not say you are buying ... actually if your ancestor comes from the subcontinent... I have also been to Peshawar.. and saw the Kyber Pass...
chinkiasu : looks like u already have a potential customer for ur travel documentary in DVD , our own iPunter !
dear Shplayer, I agree with you and so also most tap oil investors...... and that is why tap oil price shot up 13%
ayah, Geojam sir... why you so like that.... we trying to psyhe each other up ... if SPC kana dupe we cannot get our coffin money leh.... ...
but seriously, Livermore (actually should pronouce it as Live Forever More) is absolutely spot on re the long term prospects... we literally should keep this stock for our coffin money...

ah hah, Sporegal, you are at moment as suggested by fortunegal, drinking Boh tea?
and may I be the second, fortunegal...and a

Terima kasih, Bahut Shukria and many thanks sir Baseerahmed, for the encouragement...
Hi fortunegal
May i be the first one to welcome u to fellowship of shares.
This is the thread where big decisions are made.Just joking.
Hope u having a nice Easter break, thus far.
hi folks, time for the frog (fortunegal) to jump out of the deep well to join you all this interesting thread.
singaporegal, refering to your thread 02-Apr-2007 21:43 on cameron highlands, i been there last Dec. think by this time, you may have find out from other tour forums but nevertheless, i share my experience. you still need a jacket at high levels if you go for day tours. other than that, sometimes you do not need it...not that cold in noon. Boh tea plantanation is so beautiful. There is even a cafe there. if you want a relax tour, stay for 2 nights. i stayed for 1 day only n had to cheong two day tours on the dot when i reach there in morning, it was very tiring but fulfilling trip. The day tours can be booked below ur hotel, n they drive you in cars or mini vans up the mountains. But the 'Nature discovery tour' from http://www.titiwangsatours.com (one of the tour company there) leave u 40+mins at Boh plantation there, which is very short timing. How i wish i can sit at the cafe for more than 1 hr just to drink tea, relax n enjoy the panoramic view (I m a nature person). if u or ur friend want to drive up yourself (but no car rental there btw) to Boh planation, think quite dangerous as the roads are too small. never in my life, i hear so many honks as drivers must honk before making a turn.

if you want convenience to steamboat eatery shops n weekend pasar malam, stay in brinchang town (Rosa Passendena hotel). If you do want peace n serenity environment, stay in Equatorial hotel (need a cab to get back if u go brinchang town). not sure about catching taxis there as never hail for it.
pls book a better bus coach company like 5 stars etc for the long journey up.
p/s: don't have so much spare money now to go too far places like u folks. in case anyone been to maldives, pls share with me. that's still my dream destination in few years time to go. still dreaming to live in a water villa there in hilton resort => will make the dream come true. now i dont be too greedy, few weeks later will go short trip on star cruise to redang for the clear water.
Greece may bring on feelings of fondness for the ancient Oracles... :)
Hi synnexo,
Yah! Greece is one country I've wanted to visit for some time. I have seen pictures of the island Santorini and they're really beautiful. I was in Turkey and almost decided to hop over to Turkish Cyprus but was told that if I went there, then Greece will bar me entry because they have bad relations with Turkey because Turkey invaded Cyprus.
