me love all kinds of alcholic drinks but drink in moderations, to enjoy but not to get drunk. Used to be beer when we lived in Germany, drink beer most evening during dinner becos it's cheaper to buy german beer than mineral water (in some cities, can't drink water from tap, got to buy bottled water).

then visited portugal for 1 week and got hooked on Port. Went from table wine port to 10 yr old, then 20 yrs old, then 30 yr old. Really need to sip it instead of drinking it because it's expensive . *synnexco* visit the port wine shop in the Lisbon, there are many and really offer good bargain. Portwine is cheaper up north in porto region but since you are not going up north, lisbon is a good place to buy. You can find vintage port like your birthyear in the cellars of these shops.

Wine is always among favourite list. Prefer white to red due of exposure in Germany. Also, it hot in Singapore and therefore preference for white. Elf, would really love to tongbang when ur family import good wine.

Get to know Sake through a Japan-xiao friend. Prefer chill sake. Like it because one does not suffer from hangover even if you down a large qty.

Other than that like Gin Tonic, Volka Lime (sorry passe kind of mix).

if you are going to use day rail pass why not travel at long distance at night and sleep on the train..e.g so save accomodation?  perhaps you could consider stay away from main cities and go for the smaller towns where rates should be cheaper i.e instead of Rome stay in say a few local train stops away.  The next day you can then take the train into town. 

 

For those interested to keep a small pet but really have no time, do consider keeping a tiny hamster.

It is an ideal pet which needs so little maintenance.

And their urine doesn't stink  like white mice urine! (avoid white mice at all cost).

Buy a baby hamster and start to handle it on your hands daily from young and you'll come to like it very much ... :)

Terriers are not for me, as I don't like their face hair getting in the way when they eat and drink.

I prefer cleans breeds like pinschers, rottweillers and whippets... :)

And also the cute little Chihuahuas too...

Hi chinkiasu, Thanks for the link. But me taking flights from different countries. Only for Italy itself me taking the 4-day railpass. Think that is slightly cheaper compare to taking the train for the entire trip. Moreover, train takes more time to cross borders & delays, as u mentioned. It cost me about S$280 to travel from Lisbon - Madrid - Barcelona - Milan. My main flight, open jaw ticket, by KLM is S$1801(*HEART PAIN*), inclusive tax(S$380). The only killing is the hotels stay. Expect to be about 50Euros p/n, but it turns out to be about 60 - 70 Euros p/n. I still have not book my hotels in Italy, the rest 2 countries done yesterday. Likely me to drop Sicily island. Please advise on the hotels stay in Italy. As long it is safe, have private bathroom & preferably near to main train station. Thank u all so much for giving tips. Really appreciate it. I know where to ask for help next year when I travel to Switzerland & Austria.

 

hi synnexco, re train travel in Spain, you have to expect delays: they are not as punctual as in Germany or France.. or as fast.. this is how I remembered it...

Read in your earlier post about your Eastern Europe trip. I'm planning to do a 2 weeks trip in Eastern Europe this Sep and would greatly appreciate any advice on any interesting places to visit  and how to get the best deals. Still cant imagine how u could do Europe at 2.2K including tickets! Incredible!!!

Our initial budget was $3.5K, even then thought it's not quite enough esp if include AT n rail tickets. We plan to go at least to Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Slovenia. Would like small hotels or B&B but dont think i can take hostels with no attached toilets and have to share room with strangers.

Thanks for taking the effort...really appreciate it... Think the Italy itinerary seem good to follow. But since I'm going to there already then might as well go over to Portugal & Spain. But then I think I might skip Sicily instead. So the last stop might be Naples. What I intend to plan is:

 

3D2N in Milan

Milan - Verona - Venice(Overnight) =2D1N

Venice - Bologna - Pisa - Florence (Overnight) = 2D1N

Florence - via Rome - Naples (Overnight) = 2D1N

Naples - Rome 4D3N

I still left with 2 nights which I duno where to plan. Initially wanted to go Sicily, but seem like so far away if take train & ferry. Thinking of flight instead...but 2D1N there also like so rush. Bunnie, what do u think?

talking about puppies/doggies....my neighbour downstairs own 3 dogs of different species...pls don't ask me what are the species..i m not good in it...they are those small size dogs.......they always urine at my coridoor small plants......*pengz*..... Today the most smallest n innocent looking dog was shitting in broad day light at my next door neighbour doorway just next to their slippers....somemore shit in front of me, my bf and the owner(their father of the family). of course the owner got irriated n clear the shit lah. I took the chance to tell him nicely again to train his dogs not to urine at my coridoor plants.

so irritating...they been urinating for years, and we have been 'suffering' that for years...enough liao lah. The last round i told him, he just shrunk his shoulders n said his dogs are used to it, nothing can be done. But today he told me he had 'warned' his dogs n they had lessen the act of urine at my plants.... i hope so.... 

 

 

I'd never had any special liking for cats...

but somehow, cats would always "rubba-rubba" on my legs whenever they are near me (ie. press against my legs and rub their body).

 It can be rather irritating and invasive though...

Unlike dogs,  which can be all over you licking and wagging their tails wildly, yet makes you feel so wanted by them as persons.

 

wah....i'm out of action for just the weekend and so many posts...can't keep up...one by one...

firstly, thanks to all for the well wishes. :)
elf's been sleeping most of the past 4 days. standard schedule, wake up, take medicine, fall asleep, wake up, take medicine, sleep. repeat cycle.

 

bunnie my dearest, don't worry, i won't ever lelong you away. too precious to. :))) so godpa, don't worry, you don't havta buy her off open market. haha. and kitten, don't be sad... *patpat* elf lelonged you only 'cos you said you wanted company wat....haha. if no one wants you, it's ok... i always got space in my heart for a stray. :) haha.

 

yea. i like doggies...ah singaporegal!! what kind of terrier???? :))))

 

and yea, j3rom3, my mum doesn't like animals too. sigh. cats respond to me tho. i just have to meow at them and they'll come to me. actually, animals generally respond to me. nature of the elf. hehe. mebbe that's why i have a kitten and a bunnie with the temperament of a kitten. haha. :P

 

and erm. kitten, your 2nd flower is actually a gerbera....i like daisies, but you seldom get them in singapore tho. too fragile. meaning: innocence. they grow all over the Italian countryside and in San Francisco in the spring, it's so beautiful. kitten can bring a rose for elf if we ever happen to meet up. hehe. or a white iris. altho, general advice is, if you're bringing flowers for the ladies, bring them for all. :P

 

watering holes. oh yea, elf drinks like a fish. rather unfortunate for my liver. haha. wine's good. am shifting to sake now tho...if kitten is into wine just lemme know. my family imports our own wines; so you'll get better quality ones for cheaper prices. i can always just tup in a bottle or two for you in when the order comes around.

 

ok, time for dinner. and sleep soon. still on medication. gotta work tomorrow, apologies for the disappointment for those waiting for afternoon detailed posts. haha.
