thanks shplayer,

very detail breakdown value of  UIC. If Singland px keep moving up, and undervalue gap get wider, smart investor will move in for the kill.

Putting things in perspective,

UIC hold 72.42% of SpLand

As of 30 Jun 06, UIC NTA was $1.44 of which its share of SpLand NTA constitutes $1.32. This means that the NTA of UIC's business that is independant of SpLand is a mere 12cts (1.44- 1.32).

Recently, SpLand has run up to $7.25. At this level, it translates to $1.57 market value per UIC share. Add 12cts of UIC's non SpLand NTA, the fair market value of UIC, when SpLand is $7.25 is $1.69 (1.57+0.12).

CONCLUSION..

Given SpLand current share price of $7.25, UIC is about 17% undervalued at $1.46

I do agree with derek that UIC is still good at around $1.46 although I've sold mine at $1.44. Reason : Office rentals are moving up - SingLand & UIC have very good office spaces in the Central Business Districts.

Reason I sold is 'cos I think Reits with good office spaces & shopping malls are better investment and returns. Make a switch to Capital Mall Trust and SuntecR. More risky though. Cheers!

Yes, noticed that the prices for all related stocks ie UOL, UIC, Singland are uptrending.....

Still holding to UIC (bought at $1.13 many years ago using CPF).  Should I sell now since since price is already quite high now ?

I think UIC's last high was $1.49 and that was at least a five or six year high. The closing price today is now just within a whisker of challenging the last high. Resistance at this level is high though as the counter hit $1.49 twice and bounced back. This could well happen again. On the other hand, if the resistance is overcome with good volume, then who knows it may become another explosive stock. Picture is not clear yet. So, just watch and see how it develops.

I don't see any sudden price change happening soon.

However, I see this slowly uptrending. One negative point about this counter is that the daily volume is not too good.

Haha.. I'm no "sifu" lah... I'm still learning also. TA is not magic, however, its important to find the right combo that works for you.

For me, I use a combo of Accumulation/Distribution, RSI, Williams %R and Bollinger Bands.

Basically I sit up and take notice when A/D AND RSI undergo divergence with the stock price AND if W%R is not overbought yet, I will probably go in and buy the stock.

If A/D and RSI tell conflicting signals, I just sit tight and wait for confirmation over the next few days.

I just use B-Bands to see if an explosive price movement is about to occur.

Hope this helps!

hi singaporegal,

Can we share some of  the beauty of the TA technique. You read from the charts UIC is definitely going south for a while.Absolutely correct. TA 'sifu' please enlighten us how you get it.

singaporegal,

Thanks.

That's why have to seek advice from the TA 'sifu' and learn.

I believe a combination of FA and TA will increase chances of making more $$$ form the market.

Hi shplayer,

My trading timeframe is between 2-4 weeks. I have not done the FA so you may be right that its promising in the long term. However, I think its downtrending for this coming period of time.

Actually, because the TA charts reflect market sentiment, if its manipulation by big players, it'll already be factored into the charts. Thats the beauty of the TA technique  :) ... I don't really care if its manipulation by people or not. Its all the same to me.

singaporegal,

Could the downtrend be a manupulation by market players prior to HY results? cos FA looks pretty promising.

Hi all,

Yes. This stock is very oversold now. However, from what I see in its TA  charts, its definitely going south for a while.

Hi,

I think clauswu made a typo - the stock is actually oversold  not overbought

Thanks clauswu,

When TA shows overbought, one should sell. Why you think it will rebound next week.
