Ha ha, AK is not a soccer fanatic. Ds is d first time goes internet to watch soccer. Before that, only drops by CC or MAC for couple of mins, before mid nite match, just to feel the heat of the 4-yr bash.

As for trend n graph guidings, its a tool to prompt u the possibility of the future performances. Market senses, global economic issues n calamity happenings r essential for trading or investment. But the utmost important is must hv enough bullets to defence n attack, basing on your own judgement. Ha ha, must take care of your real HQ, the family. Cheers.

PS. Oh shit, just rcv news that wife's brother got bike accident. Need to rush down to TTS AE.

AK_Francis-you so tokong, morning watch stock market, night time watch football market.

As for GAR there is the consolidation since 16Jun at the price range 0.53-0.555. I think this is positive sign and there is a buy signal using Turtle Trader indicator on 21Jun using Metastock. Correct me if I wrong.

I think GAR to purchase FIH is to understand and familiar the market in China by FIH market chain.

Others than ice stick, instant noodles and snack they can also sell the other products which are make by palm oil with exisiting market instead do again the preliminary study of the China Market.

GAR last done at 0.55, no change as yes closed. STI shed a mild 4.42.

GAR buz(Not CPFIS) : Unit of Asia Food n Ppties involved in cultivation, processing n sale of crude palm oil n related products. Making profit yrly since 06.
Latest in China: Its loosen the peg on its currency and allowing it to float more freely.  This hopefully will allow for greater balance in the global economy and help China curb inflation.
This news sent stocks and commodities higher, as this is seen as a vote of confidence by the Chinese.  But there is still much work to be done, as China needs to increase domestic demand to support balanced growth. Hence, expecting the yesterday indexes surge in Asia many not continue, further great rises r limited or even may face adjustment.
Noddles r common n essential food source in China, esp the rural areas where natural disasters r so rampant. 1.4 bil popu, less infants, the market is huge, the potential is there.
GAR sw food processing is not difficlut, as it is alrdy in ds line. Focusing on agriculture in China or even Indon r not viable nowsaday liao, both countries had cried lately that country wild plants n vegetation r excessively demolished, n attributed to d natural disasters ie landslide, floods etc. Acquiring land is not that easy liao.
Lately, Wilma plan to invest 2bil USD in Merauke, Indon for agri industries, ie sugercane, though ealier it had secured some lands in China, S.Afri n Indon. But that would only materialise in yrs to come. May face unexpected changes on the way.
Above r AK view only, no call for anything. Cheers.

I've the same concern with you.

It's great that they want to penetrate China Market, but I feel they should focus on agriculture related business rather than processed food business like instant noodles.

Is this a good decision?

We don't know until much later.

I walk into the supermarkets you can see so many brands and type of nozzles. All look and taste alike. Anyone know why and Why Golden Agri not focus on plantation business which can contribute meaningfully to earnings?  What are they try to signal to us?

Palm oil firm Golden Agri-Resources has struck a deal to buy Chinese noodle maker Florentina International Holdings (FIH) for CNY976m (US$142.8m).FIH, the food arm of Asia Food & Properties Limited (AFP), makes snack noodles, instant noodles and ice sticks in China. The company has eight production plants in seven provinces in China and also has a distribution network of sales and liaison offices throughout the country. Golden Agri-Resources said the proposed acquisition would allow it to leverage on market knowledge, customer base and extensive distribution channels in the food business in China. “Presently, FIH Group has a significant market share in the snack noodle segment and it has established a strong brand recognition and customer base in the northern, north-western, north-eastern, eastern, central and southern parts of China,” the company said. It added: “The proposed acquisition will allow Golden Agri-Resources to tap into the wide spread distribution channels of the FIH Group, covering seven provinces, through approximately 26,500 distributors, approximately 4,600 supermarkets and chain stores, as well as approximately 600 hypermarkets.” The plam oil firm said its current Chinese business would be able to set up refineries, consumer pack oil filling and margarine and shortening factories in some of FIH’s existing production plants or on adjacent land. The company added that it would be able to find synergies through integration and sharing of human resources. “Both businesses can derive potential cost savings and have better competitive strength to capture a larger market share in China,” it said. just-food is the world’s leading portal for the global pre-packaged food and retail industries. No. I don't use chartnexus. I think you have to pay to use their charting tools right?

I won't pay to use the charting tools since I get them for free from my broking firms.

I don't know if you can use RSI (7d) for short-term trading because I never try this technique out.

RSI (14d) is the standard that many analysts uses, I feel 7 days is too short to really get an accurate reading.

You can do some paper trading, test this technique out and let us know if it works.

susan66      ( Date: 21-Jun-2010 01:36) Posted:

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the detailed analysis. For RSI (14d) is about 56.63. Just curious, for RSI, why don't use 7 days instead of 14 days for short term trading? Is it more accurate according to your experience?  Smiley 128

Hi Alex, are you using chartnexus? I can also see RSI(14) to be below 70. Maybe your platform is using smoothed RSI. For chartnexus, smoothed RSI (14) is 56.8.
