hi Bunnie..!!!!. so you have secretly watching on the sidelines.... ha ha... no worries my good Shi2san1yee2..  yes I am vested and will take side bets too.. ok with me re everyone  for drinks  but not so fair to Elf leh if she loses?

ah ya Elf, I said >1.0 by next week.means end next week... so if the trend is down, ada momentum which needs to be broken so there fore.... but I think since you want a fair one how about >0.95..  other guys in gemtv thread are saying it will go below 0.90 even today...

keke, bunnieee!!! *hugs*

cks already said he went against the trend and bought in (?). that's why i wanna do side bet with him. but haven't called stakes yet lah. dunno how much he bought, thought it wouldn't be nice if he loses both the share and the bet what.

eastonbay, one glass sake, on. but gotta fix parameters first: you wanna call your own range, or default cks >$1 call?

and cannot just above 92c. no go.

muah ha. ehhhh where's my rogue trader ah beng friend? *grin*

btw, zhirong thann, abt shorting: i wldn't advise doing it, since it's a one day thing. not unless you have the CFD acct which allows for 30 days. 'cos generally, even for TA ppl, we'll call the up or down trend, but we seldom like to put a date to it; since to be right on one is difficult alr, much less to be right in the given time span.

uncle kiasu, u gonna watch from sideline and bet or u gonna buy and bet? coz the latter is crazy. it's not BB shorting; results are bad. haven't u received their financial report? profits are down -60+%.

heh, u got alot of $$ ah? come leh, if i see u in aug w godpa, u buy ALL of us drinks for the whole night ok?

hehehe. everyone included for the drinks! *LOL*

ehhh...no fair, you can't say above 0.92; your first call was >$1 wasn't it?

if 0.92 and above that's too easy. then the onus is just on me. no fun. c'mon leh....bets must be fair.

keke.

eastonbay, wait; gotta set parameters of the call first. haha.

chinkiasu, the first rule of investing, as ipunter has pointed out many, many times: the trend is your friend.

but keke. i see the opp for some fun. *grin* nevermind about 2 mths, that's too long to wait. you say $1 by next week?

wanna side bet?

gemstv: i call friday's close at 0.88-0.92.

*grin*

chinkiasu, wanted to say I'm with you on GemTv abt possible rebound, then saw Victoria's posting. After that I'm not so sure anymore. He's the authority here! hehe. However, though the start up cost was high in the US, they quickly expanded their customer based (subscriber) to 31m (vs company's previous target of 21m).

livermore,

I bought all these blue chips sometime back... btw 3-6 years ago. Not all at one go. Actually only one at a time over the period. These bluechips feed me dividend, as such I called them my Fixed D. I don't really spend time monitoring. Ok, taking a glance every other day doesn't count. I must stress again that I I feel safe having them. I could even be away for 1 year without evening taking a look at the price level for the entire year. Certainly I don't make 'altrocious' money with them too! These are my safe 'urn' money (not coffin) ha ha.

I have seperate portfolio for trading. Very small time type though. I wish I can make good returns like your one or two counters (swissco). I am still trying to learn very quickly about trading. Btw, because of your nickname, I have read a book on Jesse Livermore and learnt averaging up 3 months back. Haven't put that to practice yet.

dear elf, agree with your analysis except gemtv, my lady I am gona go against trend and buy....  I think some big bb is shorting it just to make bucks...the bb (stands for bloody bums) is taking advantage of new counter plus inexperience of the board to counter such bbs to protect their stock... although they have some teething problems, I think their margins are really good.. although competition coming in, this is to be expected....  at <1.0, i believe this stock is a bargain.... therefore just got vested...  we shall see this counter going back to at least 1.2 in two months... and even >1.0 by next week

btw, still looking for your cutie yorkies...  i had mistook the discussion becos Asterisk mentioned yorkshire pudding.....

hi zhirong,

shorting is rather dangerous for newbies like me. I don't know about you and your available time, but because i have a day job (else how to buy shares), i do not have time to monitor and my understanding of shorting is that you gotta cover back within the same day.

Also for shorting, i think the gain is at most 100% but the losses can be more than that. So in term of risk/reward, dun sound enticing to me.

note though that this is a relative newbie's point of views and the generals here might have their other views

Like what I used to mention, bull market go for long positions (selective counters), bear market go for short positions (selective counters) but just don't be the pig/baby-sitter and get slaughtered..

Hi elf, I am interested in the rationale of shorting. Pros, cons and impact of it. Is it considered a high risk method to make gain? Seeking other opinions as well. Pls advise

kid, you see, the point is not the law per se. the point is in the burden of proof. ie, prove that the person is guilty of manipulating the shares.

near impossible to do so. And when it's Temasek? or Keppel buying up SPC?

you can't call the cops wat. in first place, it's not illegal.

and eh. can we pls avoid this topic? getting dangerous. i'm a simple elf. i just want to make my Smiley. haha.

yeah, chinkiasu, what i want is a yorkshire terrier; ya know, the little ones? that pic was a silky terrier, aka, singaporegal's pet. hehe. small people need small pets. heehee. and arghhh, no yorkshire pudding! jerome, asterisk etc, you cheapos! want lesson but dowan to pay. hmph. doggie! i want a doggie! *wail*

talk abt being a noisemaker. keke. :P

yah man, eastonbay, you're perhaps a little too diversified? you almost had me reaching for my calculator to derive your NAV. until the last line abt additional FJBen etc. Concealed NAV resulting in inaccurate NTA therefore halted accountancy. hahahaa.

StA doing well, huh? it's consolidating now. hp, i'm getting my hp! Smiley

SPC ppl: tech update: ~5.95 is your next upside. Also, don't use a/d and c/o on it. for some reason it's inaccurate---just see the recent upsurge in px.

hm. what other kantangs require updating? china yb is dipping a bit as expected. gemstv, large lots sold; don't fight trend hor.  vic's multiple kantangs, all same story: rangebound and in accumulation phase.

and no logic, but i just want to post up this onion. quite cute leh. hehe. Smiley

ok, back to wk. byebye!

Hi EastonBay,

You really like to diversify and buy blue chips. I only have 2 stocks now and no blue chips:)
