Oceanus raises $73.5m from investors
The 9 per cent interest rate three-year loans due on June 30, 2012, also come with the option of being repaid through the lenders exercising warrants in Oceanus shares which will be issued according to the proportion of loan given. Ocean Wonder is taking the lead portion with $37.5 million, followed by Hupomone with $17 million and various strategic investors taking the remaining $19 million. Of the proceeds of about $69.5 million, $37.5 million will be used to fund the group's farm expansion activities or related acquisitions, $15 million will go towards expanding the activities of Ah Yi Tian Xia cafes and the development of the group's downstream activities and $17 million will be used for general working capital. Oceanus reported an 85.8 per cent increase in net profit to 107.6 million yuan (S$23 million) for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009. 'During this difficult time of the financial crunch and economic uncertainty, we are pleased to announce that the investment interest in this financing exercise was overwhelming,' said Oceanus executive chairman Ng Cher Yew. Oceanus also announced that it will be a new constituent of the MSCI Singapore Small Cap Index with effect from the close of trade on May 29. ABALONE producer Oceanus Group announced over the weekend that it had successfully obtained funding of $73.5 million from private equity firms AIF Capital Asia III subsidiary Ocean Wonder International and Hupomone Capital Partners Singapore as well as strategic investors. |

GREAT NEWS:
Oceanus got a boots of 70 over million form 2 investment houses and will be included in the MSCI mid cap stock index from 29th may. This will zoom up the stock and will be in radar of fund managers. Good long term buy.
