It carried 11% more cargo on its ships in July than a year earlier, while suffering an 11% decline in revenue per container.

Container shipping arm APL transported 166,200 40-foot equivalent units (FEUs), a standard industry measure, between July 1 and July 28.

Average revenue per container fell 11% to $2,648 in the same period compared with a year ago.

Hi Sporeguy and lewsh88,

Many years ago, when I first started to trade, that is what I did ie trade blindly. When I lost heavily, I stayed away from the market and told myself not to play shares anymore.  However, in the last 2 years, I have again started to get interested.  However, now I tried to attend seminars, learn about FA and TA and take gurus&veterans comments/advice into consideration. Thank you for sharing.

If you visit the sporepool website to check the frequency of each number being prize-winners, you will not buy 4-D. On the average, any specific no. came out only approx. 10 times over a 20 year period.

Hi jessie

There's not much difference between buying 4-D and stocks if one is buying blindly.

American columnist Ted Allen said:

" Buying stocks is exactly the same as going to the casino,

only with no cocktail services."

Hi Mattew8 and Tanglinboy,  I also seldom buy 4-D... Someone told me that you will have better luck in buying shares than punting on 4-D....

jessie  -  Ha, ha, ha!  The money is not yours yet.  That's why it did not go to you.  I seldom buy 4-D.  So, I never even think of it.  Anyway, I had closed my NOL already.  Buy: $1.88 (Average)  Sell:  $1.91 (Average) - 20 lots.

Better luck next time!

Hi Mattew8, I have given you a good rating for highlighting that there may be forumer who make postings for ulterior motive. I am one of the newbies here and I am glad that you have alerted us to it. Wish you good luck !

Nostradamus - I hope I am right this time. I only managed to contra half of my NOL holdings today and I hope to contra the rest tomorrow with a higher margin of profit. Wish me luck, OK.

shplayer - When I told Nostradamus that I saw no reason why he wanted to talk down NOL, I was under impression that he must have sold short like the Forumer in Shareinvestor.com whom I mentioned to you earlier.  When he replied to me that he did not sell short, the matter stops there. To me, forumers who talk down a counter normally have sold short. This can be seen practically everyday in SI.

Also, nobody (including myself) has said Nostradamus will make a difference to the share price. That is why I do not want to follow-up with you on your previous posting. Since you want to bring up again in your second posting, may be I can try to help you to understand better.

At the moment, Sharejunction has a total number of 4949 registered members. Whether in the midst of these 4949 members, there are any forumers who have the financial muscle to make a significant impact on the market direction, I do not want to speculate. It is up to you to read in between the lines of forumers who come here to promote their counters.

But, I dare tell you that  -  before Shareinvestor.com (SI) was a paid forum, there were quite a number of forumers there have ulterior motives when they send out their postings. They will lure unsuspected newbies, contra players and inexperienced traders to certain counters which they have no problem to manipulate with the price movement - both up and down.

I will have to type a few pages if I were to tell you the whole story.

Nostradamus has said that he doesn't have the financial ability to talk down the shares, unlike fund managers and analysts. And I believe him, of course. Similarly, you and I also do not have the financial muscle to make a significant movement of prices. But, this does not mean that there are no members or forumers in the midst of us in this forum who has the ability to make a significant movement of prices. Open your eyes wide and try to read in between forumers's postings and you will probably be able to spot them. Of course, nobody is so stupid to come to this forum and tell the whole world that he or she has the financial muscle to move prices.

Pardon me for the rattling. I only want to try to help you to understand.  Let's not pursue this matter any further.  Otherwise, I will be accused of opening my big mouth and invite trouble.

Matthew8, you may be right. In view of falling oil prices, NOL would benefit. But this is only short term as I see oil prices rising again. The medium and long term outlook is still bearish.

Matthew8,

Yes, there are all types of people to make the world go round. But if we are mature and shrewd enough to see through their motives, we wouldn't get burnt for the wrong reasons. Of course, ther will be the gullible ones who may fall for it.

As for Nostradamus, I have been following his threads and generally found his opinions fair and balanced.

But my point was, and reiterated by Nostrdamus earlier, most of us, if not all, are retail investors/traders here and we do not have the resources ($$$$$) to make significant impact on the market direction.

Nostradamus - I have said several times in this forum that I am more on the GA side - not TA or FA.

You said: "Nevertheless, excess capacity and at the rate the net profit is falling, NOL could turn in a loss in Q3 or maybe Q4."

This is definitely a FA's view and I respect that. However, I will not have the patience to wait until Q3 or Q4 to buy, sell or sell short should NOL really reported a loss then.

FYI, from 27/7/08 to-date, I had jumped in and out of NOL five times - all with successful trades.

Nostradamus, you really shake my confidence yesterday when you said: "Looks like falling again. Remember your protective stop."

Thank goodness, this mornings price action did not turn out to be what you said.

I am now looking forward to earn $$$ again. Enjoy your lunch.

shplayer - I value Nostradamus's opinions also. That is why I told him that we can learn from each other although we may have differing views.

FYI, I joined Shareinvestor.com (SI) since 2001. If you have been there, you will note that there are all types of investors and traders sending out their postings everyday.

Below is base on my memory. Lazy to go to SI to check its accuracy.

As I was vested in NOL, naturally I read the postings in SI. There was one forumer who sold short in the morning at around $1.90. Probably because NOL has released its report with lower profit on Monday. Throughout the whole day, he sent out several Research Reports with negative views on NOL, hoping that forumers will read and sell down the counter. At 4.45 pm, NOL suddenly sprang to live and surged powerfully to close at $2.06.

Needless to say, he was badly burnt because he has to cover back the same day. Next day, he sent out a picture of Big Sharks and keep shouting - Sharks! Sharks! in the NOL thread.

To me, I was very happy because I had bought in at $1.89 and was able to sell at $1.95 (20 lots).

So, when I read Nostradamus posting on 15 Aug 2006 wherein he mentioned CIMB-GK analyst said its target price has been lowered from $1.88 to $1.70, I replied and told him that I hope is has not sell short. He has since replied that he did not shell short. Good for him, of course.

My point here is, do not talk down a stock if you are not vested or did not sell short. You will irk many vested investors and traders. Hope you can understand.

Hello!  Anyone follow me to buy yesterday at $1.89 (my Average is $1.88).  If you have to buy, please early.  Don't let chase after the price when it is being pushed up.  Look at the following and you will know the big buyers have started the action:

09:58:20 1.900 197000 Buy Up

09:58:16 1.900 100000 Buy Up

11:27:00 1.910 219000 Buy UPA

Don't say I never inform you early, hoh.

Nostradamus and Shplayer, I will reply to you at later.
